I feel incredibly lucky that no one ever shut down my dream of becoming an artist when I was young. Instead, I was surrounded by encouragement—from my parents, my teachers, and my friends. No one told me, “Being an artist isn’t a real job,” or “You’ll never make a living doing that,” even though I know so many creative kids hear those words.

My high school art teacher encouraged me to apply to SCAD, and my time at Savannah College of Art and Design gave me the confidence to believe I could build a life around making art.

Since then, travel has shaped my inspiration, and later, so did the family I’ve created. Every place, every season, every experience has quietly informed the next… and one day you look up and realize you’ve built a 20-year career doing what you love.

I truly believe God gave me this gift, and I’ve always tried to honor what feels like both my purpose and my passion. But none of it would exist without the people who collect my work, share it with friends, and invite my paintings into their homes. I can never say thank you enough.

And if you have a child who loves to draw, paint, build, dance, or create, my biggest piece of advice is simple: encourage them. Keep putting paper in front of them. Hang their artwork on the fridge. Tell them their ideas matter.

The world will always need more creativity, more color, and more people brave enough to do what they love. 🤍🎨
