David Lusk Gallery

David Lusk Gallery Contemporary Art Gallery in Memphis, Tennessee. When I started this business in Memphis in 1995 my goals were easy:

1. And, it's been a good time.

Have a good time representing a small crowd of talented artists (some with national reputations, others new to any gallery; some from this region, others from the coasts).

2. Expose my clients (in Memphis and internationally) to the artworks my artists create. This many years later David Lusk Gallery still abides by those goals. We've had good luck together -- both artists and clients. Please let

Robert Hollingsworth, Lees Romano, Gregory Smith, Aaron Harper, or me know how we can help. Email us at [email protected]. Or better yet, come visit.

NASHVILLE

David Lusk Gallery is excited to present Townes Ferry Pike, a solo exhibition of recent photographs by Nashville based artist Ian Edward White, on view September 1 through October 3 at David Lusk Gallery Nashville.

Over the past four years, White has traveled throughout Middle Tennessee, making photographs in communities including Murfreesboro, Shelbyville, McMinnville, and Columbia. Rather than documenting the region through its familiar landmarks, White turns his attention to quieter moments of its inhabitants and geography, chance encounters, overlooked spaces, changing weather, and the subtle exchanges that reveal the complexities of everyday life.

Working within the lyrical documentary tradition, White photographs familiar places in ways that resist easy interpretation. His images allow meaning to emerge through atmosphere, composition, and association, presenting Middle Tennessee as both a real place and a psychological one shaped by memory, nostalgia, seasonal change, and personal history.

MEMPHIS

David Lusk Gallery is excited to present Prairie, a new body of work by Nashville based artist Emily Leonard, on view September 1 through October 10 at David Lusk Gallery Memphis.

Known for her abstracted paintings of the natural world, Leonard turns her attention in this exhibition to the openness, movement, and changing color of the prairie landscape. Working primarily in oil on panel, Leonard builds her paintings through layers of loose brushwork, washes, drips, and fragmented shapes. Flowers and other natural forms emerge and dissolve across the surface, sometimes immediately recognizable and other times reduced to gestures of color and movement.

Rather than rendering a landscape exactly as it appears, Leonard is interested in the experience of looking and the way our eyes move through a place. Throughout Prairie, her compositions move between moments of openness and areas of dense activity, distilling observations of seasons changing, plants growing and receding, and colors appearing and fading.

NASHVILLE

Today is the final day to see “I’ve Got Something To Say” at David Lusk Gallery Nashville.

Tim Crowder’s practice transforms traditional art forms into sardonic, incisive commentaries on the world around us. Drawing from surrealism, his work explores ideas of reality, fantasy, form and perception while raising questions about the mysterious nature of objects and the function of art itself.
