NASHVILLE
David Lusk Gallery is excited to present Townes Ferry Pike, a solo exhibition of recent photographs by Nashville based artist Ian Edward White, on view September 1 through October 3 at David Lusk Gallery Nashville.
Over the past four years, White has traveled throughout Middle Tennessee, making photographs in communities including Murfreesboro, Shelbyville, McMinnville, and Columbia. Rather than documenting the region through its familiar landmarks, White turns his attention to quieter moments of its inhabitants and geography, chance encounters, overlooked spaces, changing weather, and the subtle exchanges that reveal the complexities of everyday life.
Working within the lyrical documentary tradition, White photographs familiar places in ways that resist easy interpretation. His images allow meaning to emerge through atmosphere, composition, and association, presenting Middle Tennessee as both a real place and a psychological one shaped by memory, nostalgia, seasonal change, and personal history.
