It's Open House Day!

Volunteers will be at the Flying Yankee today from 11am-3pm to welcome visitors and provide tours. Please use 55 North Road, Conway, NH to access the train.

We're also excited to share some behind the scenes news that we are making progress towards building a workshop for the train!

Earlier this spring our Building Committee sent out a Request For Proposals to select contractors to discuss the design and build of our workshop. We have received some excellent replies and are continuing to move forward with next steps.

What a great weekend to be a Flying Yankee fan!

Saturday we held our first Open House of the 2026 season. Board members and volunteers were on site to welcome visitors to the train and talk more about our current projects.

Sunday our friends over at held a special fundraising excursion for us! The event was a full day on the rails complete with:
- A tour of the Flying Yankee
- Photo ops with the Flying Yankee, the F units 4268 and 4266, and the GP9 "Bluebird" 1741
- A total of FOUR photo run-bys (Frankenstein Trestle, Notchland Inn, Bartlett, and Mile Post 64)
- And of course time spent with great people!

We would like to extend a sincere, heartfelt thank you to everyone who came out to support us this weekend. Whether you visited our open house, or joined us on the rails, your support is what keeps us moving forward!

We also can't thank the folks at Conway Scenic enough for putting together this memorable event for us.

Talk about being in the right place at the right time!

Flying Yankee Association Secretary Andria LaPlant joined thousands of railfans at Steamtown National Historic Site in Scranton, PA, yesterday to see Union Pacific Big Boy No. 4014 during its historic East Coast visit. The crowds were packed, but the reward was incredible: seeing 4014 parked alongside its sister locomotive, Big Boy No. 4012.

How often do you get to see #4014 on the East Coast? Almost never. How often do you get to see two Big Boys together? That's the kind of railroad history that draws fans from across the country. What an unforgettable experience!
