Meet Amy Buchanan
RE:FOUND

After relocating to the Outer Banks in 2023, Amy followed a longtime interest in metal smithing and enrolled in classes at College of The Albemarle. Combining formal instruction with independent study, she developed a passion for transforming salvaged and discarded materials into unique wearable works of art.

With a focus on sustainability, Amy repurposes materials that might otherwise end up in landfills, creating meaningful pieces that honor the past while becoming treasured keepsakes for the future. Her work incorporates a variety of non-ferrous metals, including sterling silver, brass, copper, aluminum, silver plate, and gold-filled materials.

We’re proud to feature Amy’s handcrafted creations at Artsy Octopus OBX and invite you to stop by to see how imagination, craftsmanship, and sustainability come together in every piece.

Meet Janet Mayfield

Janet’s love of art began in childhood and has grown over a lifetime of learning and exploration. Working in a variety of mediums including oil, acrylic, watercolor, alcohol ink, and stained glass, she draws endless inspiration from the natural world around her. Her artwork often reflects the beauty of coastal life, featuring the birds, wildlife, and peaceful landscapes she enjoys every day.

In addition to her paintings, Janet creates unique dragonflies, butterflies, and whimsical critters from stained glass and recycled aluminum cans. Her work beautifully combines artistic skill, creativity, and a deep appreciation for nature.

NEW COASTAL NOTECARDS!

I had some new images that I wanted to see how they would play on notecards. Printing is an investment and it’s hard to tell what will sell versus what will sit. 🤷‍♀️

So, I decided to do a very limited edition printing for these five images that speak to me. Naming the card sets is always part of the fun. 😉
