Welcome to the Village, Tom and Ben! 🐄🐄

We celebrated a baby shower for our new oxen team this week, as they got settled into their new home on the Early Farmstead, across from Hetchler House.

Tom and Ben are Randall Lineback cattle, a critically endangered heritage breed from New England.

You can give a baby shower gift to Tom and Ben and help us continue our mission to preserve these rare heritage breeds.

Experience the life of a 19th-century traveler with a stop for dinner at historic Hosmer's Inn. 🍰

Built in 1818 near Avon, NY, Hosmer’s Inn was pronounced excellent in its day for its food and accommodations. Enjoying a meal in its dining rooms is an experience you won’t forget.

🍐 Hosmer's Inn Historic Dinner, Friday & Saturday, September 25 & 26.

The Hosmer Inn Historic Dinner is just one way to enjoy historic dining in the Village. Teas, trolley tours and luncheons, and dinners in the beautiful MacKay House and Livingston-Backus House are also on the menu this fall. We’re staying open late! 🌙

This Friday, join us until 7 p.m. for the final extended-hours event of our 50th anniversary season! It’s Taste of History weekend, and culinary activities and demonstrations will continue into the evening throughout the Village.

Arriving after 3 p.m.? Admission is just $5! Come enjoy a summer evening at the Museum, grab a bite and a drink at the Freight House Pub, and explore the Historic Village, Gallery, and Nature Center.

🐂 At 5:30 p.m., we’re throwing a baby shower! Stop by the Freight House for some cake and help us welcome our new oxen team, Tom and Ben. Then head over to the Hetchler House farm to visit our newest residents in their new home.

🍷 Want to keep the evening going? Add on our "Vines & Virtues" guided after-hours walking tour and explore how temperance movements, immigration debates and the rise of “Know Nothingism” helped shape Western New York’s modern wine industry. (The walking tour requires a separate ticket.)

Rochester native and New York Times bestselling author Jonathan Graziano and his pug Milton are coming to Genesee Country Village & Museum on Thursday, August 27! 🐾📚

And the best part: kids 12 and under get FREE admission to the Museum all day! It’s our final Kids Free Thursday of August.

Join us inside the Brooks Grove Church at 11:30 a.m. or 1 p.m. for storytime as Jonathan reads from his new book, "Milton Makes a Move." The Unreliable Narrator bookstore will also be on hand with children’s books, including Milton’s latest adventure. (Maybe Milton will pack his raincoat 😃)

(And, naturally, there’s an ice cream special in Milton’s honor: a Dog Dish Sundae. 🍦🐶)
