Join us Sunday, October 18th!

Come learn about the fantastic music department that Ingham University had as the last installment of the “The Artists of Ingham University: Faculty and Students,” for 2026!

Come learn about some of the faculty, instruments, and the complex pieces the music students of Ingham had to play! This sheet music is from of one of the few piano books that we have in our collection that belonged to one of the many music students from Ingham students, particularly this music book belonged to Grace Darling (1845-1861). Grace died very young but was able to attend Ingham from 1854-1861, in their preparatory program. If you notice in the upper right corner Grace’s name is faintly wrote!

Some of the photos in the photograph collection are unknown!

This lovely cabinet card of a woman from the 1880s has no name attached to her! This is often common when families donate photo albums or a collection of photographs they don’t know about!

What can be appreciated about unknown photographs is their clothing, hairstyles, etc! This woman’s dress is absolutely stunning with the various patterns and detailing that the Victorian period is known for!

Come learn more about this amazing piano and some of the songs that were played on it!

Albert K. Drury (1843-1901), or on the back of his photographs “A. K. Drury,” was a locally famous photographer in LeRoy, during the 19th century!

Having shot thousands of photographs of local families, children, men, and women. Only this singular image of himself exists in our collection, giving us a rare glimpse at the photographer behind the camera

Drury moved to LeRoy in 1868. He lived and worked in the village until his sudden death in 1901. He was known to have an “exemplary character” as per his obituary.

We are luckily enough to have a massive collection of his photographs in our collection, which we plan to share in the future!

Thank you to everyone who came to our program on Sunday afternoon!

Those who attended got to learn all about Jenny Modisette Mathew’s, who graduated from Ingham University in 1875 from the music department!

What was so unique about this presentation in comparison to the previous ones this year, was that we brought out clothing! We proudly displayed Jenny’s wedding dress from 1884 and a dinner dress she owned from about the same time!

Pictured is our curator, Tyler, talking about Jenny’s clothing and answering questions from attendees!

Learn more about Jenny and her life following her time at Ingham University! You will also get an exclusive look at some of Jenny’s clothing from the 1880s! This portrait of Jenny was done in the early 1900s by Buffalo artist, George Taggart
