Today’s dedication of the Suffrage marker in LeRoy on the 100th anniversary of the first woman to vote on April 2 1918. Delia Phillips’ grave in Lima marked with yellow Suffrage roses. Great turn out at the Village Hall and it was a pleasure and honor to have Lt Gov Kathy Hochul speak.

At the dedication today we also got to use the voting booth to vote for our favorite flavor of Jell-O.

The Historial Society is preparing an exhibit about World War 1. In conjunction with this, we are hoping to raise enough money $5000 - $6000) to have a World War 1 monument added to Trigon Park - like the World War 2 monument. The stone will include the names of the 11 people who made the supreme sacrifice. We are very fortunate to have the help of Terry Krautwurst who has been able to put together a list of the 260 people who were veterans of the war. I cannot even begin to express our thanks to Terry for this help. Although it is not possible to have all of those people listed on the stone, we hope to commemorate their service. We know the list might have errors and there might be some people who are not on the list.

Please take the time to read through the list to see if there are names that you recognize. Also, if there are corrections or additions. You can contact me directly at [email protected]
