Ladies and Gentlemen,



I hope this letter finds everyone well and in good spirits. Again, I want to express my gratitude for everyone’s participation of July 4th.



I am also late in offering congratulations to Michael Martin. He was named 2026 Alabama History Teacher of the year by the Gilder Lehrman Institute. It is obvious to all who spend any time with him his passion and dedication to his teaching. This is a well-deserved honor, and it is a privilege to have him with us.



If everyone is agreeable, I want to meet on the first Saturday of September (Sept. 5). We will meet at the village, though which building is yet to be determined. We will discuss upcoming events and any other pertinent matters. It is Labor Day weekend so, if this is a problem, let me know and we can probably move it.

Other dates are our Oct. 17-18 encampment at Old Baker Farm, Nov. 10 Veteran's Day Dinner, and Dec. 5 Christmas gathering.

As of now I have Michael Araiza, Cade McCool, Micghale Martin, Shaner Lee and his wife Deborah. We will be at a table with two other Village employees. Please let me know if this needs to change.

Picked up an interesting piece of history recently. Although it is dated after the war, 1789, it has the signature of two individuals that played major roles during the war, in particular, Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The document, a deed for the sale of a 10-acre parcel from Jacob and Elizabeth Snevely from Leacock township, to Henery Eaby was witnessed by no other than Adam Hubley and Jacob Dickert. An incredible find indeed.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Words cannot express my gratitude and admiration for the work all of you did over July 3rd and 4th. We have been together a number of years now, and this is the most I have ever asked of you. You conducted yourselves with dedication, pride, and enthusiasm. I am proud of what we, but mostly all of you, have accomplished. Most historians and reenactors only dream about leading such an organization. I am truly blessed by the presence of each and everyone of you.

Checks should be processed next week. I will get your pay to you as soon as possible.

A few notes regarding upcoming events:

According to the schedule published in January, we are supposed to meet on September 12. I would still like to meet, though the agenda is yet to be decided.

We also have an event Oct. 17-18 at Old Baker Farm. They are holding a Frontier Days like event. I will provide more details as we get closer.

November 10, Veterans’ Day Dinner, Color Guard.

December 12, Christmas dinner at the Village. We MAY move this to December 5 if everyone wants to. Let me know.

Would everyone like to get together in August for an informal gathering, perhaps a road trip or a cookout?

A topic I want to discuss is our participation in some of the Gulf coast events. There were no Continental Army units there, but we could perhaps do Spanish militia. Galvez did have a small contingent of American volunteers.

Again, thank you all for your devotion and friendship. They mean more than you will ever know.
