🎉 Today at Parnell Library during Homeschool Hub we celebrated Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day! 🎉

We’re proud to share that our library was awarded a grant from the Ruby Bridges Foundation, allowing us to honor Ruby’s legacy in a meaningful and memorable way.

📚✨ During our celebration, we learned about Ruby Bridges’ bravery and the incredible impact she made on our country as one of the first children to integrate an all-white school.

A special thank you to Mrs. Sylvia Vassar, who joined us to share her own story as one of the first African American students to attend Montevallo Elementary School. Her words were powerful, inspiring, and such a gift to our community. ❤️

Every family who attended received a Ruby Bridges book to take home and continue the conversation—and of course, we enjoyed donuts together! 🍩📖

Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate courage, history, and community with us!

Calling all creative minds! Join us tonight at Parnell Memorial Library for our brand-new LEGO Book Club, where stories come to life—literally!
We’ll kick things off by reading and discussing some awesome books, then use LEGO bricks to build scenes, characters, and ideas inspired by what we read.
✨ Who: Tweens & Teens
📅 When: Tonight at 6:30 !
