At Cooper-Molera Adobe, our historic gardens are the connective natural beauty between the businesses on our 2-acre shared-use property. Have you ever stepped through the adobe gates and wanted to learn more about the historic gardens? Would a beautiful garden brochure be a helpful guide for visitors? If you answered “yes”, we are working on a design concept with a local Monterey artist to map our gardens and share the unique plants and flowers with you. We’d love your financial support to bring this brochure project to your hands!

Please consider a donation of any amount. Your support will cover everything from design to printing.

Step behind the scenes of one of Monterey’s most significant preservation projects with Hidden Stewards: Documentation Photography of the Cooper-Molera Restoration by Marcia F. DeVoe.

Guest curated by Artist/Preparator Megan Goodwin, this new exhibition showcases the remarkable photographs of Marcia F. DeVoe, whose volunteer work documented the restoration of Cooper-Molera Adobe, led by California State Parks, from 1976–1985. Through her lens, discover the archaeology, architecture, and the often-overlooked people—especially the women—whose dedication helped preserve this National Trust Historic Site for future generations.

Join us for a special Artist & Curator Reception on Thursday, July 30, at 5:30 p.m. in the Cooper Adobe Museum and Garden Courtyard. Meet Guest Curator Megan Goodwin and celebrate the remarkable legacy of Marcia F. DeVoe and the hidden stewards who shaped Monterey’s history.

The exhibition is included with general museum admission and is on view July 9 through September 13, 2026. Museum open Thursdays-Sundays, 10:00am-2:00pm.

Exhibition is kindly supported by the Marcia F. DeVoe Fund of the Community Foundation for Monterey County.

We look forward to welcoming you!

“What is art? I don’t know. It’s a poor business. I can tell you so much – art is a very good amusement if a man has plenty of money. For my part, I wish I had never seen it.”– F.F. Schafer for What is Art?, SF Chronicle, April 11, 1886.

More than 140 years later, we respectfully disagree!

Join us for Skylight Talks: Paintings of the Adobe on Saturday, July 18, from 2–3 PM, and discover the stories behind Frederick Ferdinand Schafer’s painting ‘In the Sacramento Valley’ (c. 1880–1886). Sometimes the best conversations begin with a quote that sparks debate!

Tuesday was a beautiful reminder of why we do Monterey Bohemian. 🤍

Thank you to everyone who came out, supported our vendors, and shared this special evening with us. A special thank you to our incredible vendors and to Cooper Molera Adobe for helping make this gathering possible.

Monterey Bohemian is more than a market—it’s a place where community comes together. Thank you for being part of it. ✨
