Full Steam Ahead – The New Museum of the North Beach train is nearly here!

Here’s some great news for the many capital foundation donors and volunteer supporters who’ve worked so hard to keep the Museum of the North Beach moving forward:
On Wednesday, October 14, 2026, The Board of Directors of Moclips by the Sea Historical Society (MBTS) & Museum of the North Beach, with Grays Harbor County Building Department approval, broke ground and the building of our new museum is now on a fast-moving track with R. Johnson Construction engineering.

Everyone remembers the sound of the train’s arrival, everybody thinks it’s cool!

We are well on our way to achieving our goal of reconstructing the Moclips NPRY Depot to house the Museum of the North Beach! The New Museum / Moclips NPRY Depot will be a crowning achievement for the North Beach and Grays Harbor County, and a tourist destination like no other. To continue to have a place for both longtime and former residents to catalogue and share their families’ North Beach experiences, with artifacts, documents, and oral stories is very important.

The ground has been broken, soon will come the poring of the foundation, construction has officially begun!

98 years young! Not too shabby. To everyone who has helped along the way-sponsors, volunteers, patrons, donors, ticket takers, members, popcorn makers, construction helpers, board and committee members, and so many others- thank you. Because of your support this beautiful theatre continues to be a place for our community to gather, and one we will be able to pass on to future generations.

Here's to 98 years- and many more to come.

All Aboard the Depot Project! Keep an eye on the Museum of the North Beach new Museum property, as the project is moving forward! GHC Utilities workers are hard at work installing the water meter and initial water line, see photos. Switching Tracks

On Monday, April 27, 2026, Moclips by the Sea Historical Society signed a contract with our new contractor, R. Johnson Construction to get the New Museum Project on a fast-moving track. We are very excited to have them proceed in constructing our Moclips Depot, to completion.
Reconstructing the Moclips NPRY Depot will be a crowning achievement for the North Beach and Grays Harbor County, and a tourist destination like no other. To continue to have a place for both longtime and former residents to catalogue and share their families’ North Beach experiences, with artifacts, documents, and oral stories is very important.
