We had a full house yesterday and WWII veteran Tim Kiniry was amazing as always. Tim will be returning Wednesday November 18th from 11-1. He also will be celebrating is 105th birthday and we are surprising him with a cake. Come out and help us celebrate a remarkable person and our museum’s rock star.
He really enjoyed his burger and fries from Verna’s Flightline.

Reminder that Tim will be here tomorrow Wednesday, October 14th starting at 11am.

One of our favorite WWII vets, Tim Kiniry, is coming back for another visit on October 14th, from 11:00am - 1:00pm.

Stop by anytime to meet Tim in our museum conference room. He will typically walk through the timeline of his service once before lunch, take a break around 12:30-1pm (he has to have his burger from Verna's Flight Line!), and do Q&A after lunch or repeat his story for new visitors.

At 104 years old, Tim has an incredible memory of his World War II service. Drafted at just 20 years old, he served as a medic at the Battle of the Bulge and treated liberated prisoners at Buchenwald Concentration Camp. He is truly Living History!

This is a free event and no registration is required. All are welcome!

Amazing story.

On a flat stretch of Cumberland County farmland, Millville Army Air Field opened in 1941 and was proudly dedicated as America's First Defense Airport. ✈️ Long before the country had even entered the war, little Millville was already getting ready for it.

Once the fighting began, the base became a fierce gunnery school where thousands of young pilots learned to fly the rugged P-47 Thunderbolt, one of the toughest fighter planes of World War Two. 🇺🇸 They practiced strafing and dogfighting over the Jersey pines and marshes, and more than a few gave their lives in training accidents right here at home before ever reaching Europe.

Today the old airfield still runs as Millville's airport, and a museum in the original buildings keeps the story alive with photographs, uniforms, and a real Thunderbolt. 🕊️ It is a piece of the home front hiding in plain sight in South Jersey, and most folks drive right past without ever knowing it is there.

Mark is a retired Lt. Colonel with over 27 years flying experience with the United States Marine Corps and United States Air Force (Air Guard). His service includes 6 years as a Marine Corps Naval Flight Officer flying the F-4N, J and S Phantom II, 11 years flying U.S. Air Force F-4D & E Phantoms and 10 additional years flying KC-135E air refuelers.
