Don't forget our Movie Club restarts September 19! For this edition, we are talking about WW2 from a U.S. perspective while focusing on the Pacific theatre against the Japanese because George H.W. Bush served as a bomber pilot for the U.S. Navy prior to his time in Midland & the oil industry.

Unlike the Summer Movie Series, we will not be showing each of these selected movies at our site. Instead, we ask that each member watch them on their own prior to each of the meetings. We will include information on where you can buy/rent each movie when promoting each Movie Club meeting.

We’re back again at the Fly into Fall event at Midland Airpark. This is one of our favorite events each year. This year we are one of the sponsors (the Bush Family Home Foundation provided the money). Visit our table to play a “Choose Your Own Adventure “ game, try to get the chick on the raft, and hear about all of our events and programs. We have applications for all our youth programs. We have a lot for a small table.

This week we lost two celebrities, Dolly Parton and Tim Curry, both born in 1946. Do you know the significance of their birth year?
It is the same year that George W. Bush, Bill Clinton and Donald Trump were born, the only year three presidents were born.

Today is Lyndon Johnson's Birthday. George H.W. Bush met Lyndon several times as a young congressman. The first picture shows Lyndon B. Johnson speaking with George H.W. Bush at a party honoring Governor and Mrs. John B. Connally at the Bayou Club in Houston, Texas. Feb. 13, 1969.

Is it National Dog Day? The Bushes have had their fair share of dogs, including Mark who lived at the site at West Ohio Ave. Mark was gifted to the family after the passing of their daughter, Robin as a means of comfort. While in the White House, there was also Millie the English Springer Spaniel with George H. W. and Barbara Bush, and then Barney and Miss Beazley the Scottish Terriers with George W. and Laura Bush. Show us some pictures of your furry friends!

For those who homeschool, we have just the treat for you coming in October! We'll be hosting a homeschool event right here at the Bush House, where you can come and explore three stations at the Bush House! You'll get a tour of the house, play a game of croquet in the backyard, and enjoy a STEM activity! We'll also have organizations with booths for you explore as well! Put it on your calendar and we look forward to seeing you! 10am to 2pm on October 15th!

We know it doesn't seem like it yet with all this heat, but spooky season is upon us! And you know what that means! It's time to start thinking about our annual pumpkin walk! We love this event because it truly brings out the creativity of Midland and we'd love it if you'd help us keep up the tradition!
