Earlier this year, the Heard successfully completed a prescribed burn in our Restoration Prairie, an important conservation tool that helps native ecosystems thrive. Since then, volunteers have spread 75 pounds of native seed representing 44 prairie plant species, helping restore one of North Texas' rarest habitats.

Prescribed burns reduce invasive growth, return nutrients to the soil, and create the conditions native plants need to flourish. Thanks to the support of our donors, volunteers, and community partners, this work is helping restore the Blackland Prairie for wildlife and future generations. 🌾💚

Join us on the third Thursday of every month at 8:00 AM for our guided Bird Walks! Whether you're just getting started or already know your warblers from your woodpeckers, our experienced guides will help you spot and identify the incredible birds that call the Heard home.
