Mahwah Museum The mission of Mahwah Museum is to preserve and present the history of the community and its connection to the region.

Museum exhibits display information about the history of Mahwah and the surrounding community. The Mahwah Museum offers a series of programs and events, both in person and virtual, including Gallery Talks presented by volunteers who have researched and created the exhibits, a lecture series featuring programs related to local history given by distinguished amateur and professional historians, and

workshops on topics relevant to the museum's mission. In addition, small group tours are offered for schools, scouts, and other interested groups. The museum’s collection of artifacts, photographs, historical records, and documents are carefully preserved, documented, and cataloged and are available by appointment to historians and researchers. By encouraging discovery, understanding, and appreciation of the region’s heritage, the museum provides perspective for the present and the future.

Celebrate the Nation’s 250th anniversary year with Nancy B. Kennedy, whose illustrated talk, “This Sacred Soil,” tells the often-overlooked story of women in Revolutionary times. Return to 1776, when New Jersey enacted a surprising Constitution that allowed “all inhabitants” of the colony to vote, opening the door for some women and free Black people to vote.

📆 Saturday, September 26th, 1-4PM
The Mahwah Museum will reopen for its fall season on Saturday, September 26th! Back on display we have our popular Somewhere in Fardale exhibit, The Gilded Age of the Ramapo Valley, Lee Vold’s photos in Mahwah High School Memories gallery, plus our popular Donald Cooper Model Railroad. The World of Model Trains, G-scale Garden Railway trains, will remain on display, plus the Les Paul and Mary Ford in Mahwah exhibit will continue to be upgraded. The museum will host an array of special workshops, lectures, and concerts this upcoming season that we cannot wait to share with you! We’re looking forward to welcoming you back on Saturday, September 26th!

Admission to Mahwah Museum is $10 per person. Admission is free for children 18 and under, students, and Family First members. The Museum is located at 201 Franklin Turnpike, Mahwah, NJ. Thank you so much to all of our visitors, volunteers, sponsors, docents, performers, and speakers this season!

Throughout the 2025-2026 season, we hosted 8 lectures and 2 musical workshops! We've enjoyed sharing this season of music, art, and history with you all, and can't wait to show you what we have planned for our 2026-2027 season!

🌞 Saturday, June 27th, will be the Mahwah Museum’s last day of visiting hours for the 2026-2027 Season before we close for the summer. We will be taking the summer to improve and build upon our existing exhibits and add new ones!
Be sure to stop by this Saturday, we are open from 1:00-4:00 pm!

Guitar players of all levels are invited to “Unlock the Fretboard,” a hands-on guitar workshop taking place on Saturday, July 25, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with a short break included. The workshop will be taught by Mark Sganga, an International Fingerstyle Guitar Champion, bringing expert instruction and high-level musicianship to this special event. Designed to help players better understand the fretboard through a system of caged chords and scales, the workshop offers practical strategies that participants can apply immediately in their playing.
