Connecting LC State and community through art, history, creativity & shared experiences—in the heart of downtown Lewiston. Groups welcome. All ages welcome.

Admission is free and open to the public. As a community outreach program for Lewis-Clark State College, we encourage everyone to visit us and experience art. Whether you have an MFA or haven't entered Kindergarten, CAH welcomes you! Docent tours are available by appointment. Admission is FREE. Donations are always graciously accepted.

Final Convergence Artist Spotlight: Jim Buti & Janet Móczár-Buti

As we conclude our Artist Spotlight series for Convergence: Six Perspectives in Paint, we're featuring artists Jim Buti and Janet Móczár-Buti, whose oil paintings celebrate the beauty of wildlife and the natural world.

Working from their home in Libby, Montana, Jim and Janet create both individual and collaborative works inspired by the animals and landscapes around them. Their unique artistic partnership allows them to blend their styles seamlessly, resulting in paintings that reflect a shared vision and deep appreciation for nature.

Their collection of 21 artworks, on display in the Main Gallery, highlights both their individual talents and their rare collaborative process.

There is still time to experience their work and the work of the other five artists featured in the exhibition! Stop by the Center before June 27 to view Convergence: Six Perspectives in Paint and explore this diverse collection of paintings before the exhibit closes.

Convergence Artist Spotlight: Melissa Riebe

This week we’re featuring artist Melissa Riebe, whose vibrant and textured paintings invite viewers into whimsical, abstract worlds filled with color, movement, and emotion.

Working primarily in acrylic paint, Melissa incorporates paste and gel mediums to create rich surfaces with depth and dimension. The resulting textures interact with light and shadow, bringing an added sense of energy and life to each piece. Inspired by a lifelong love of art and color, Melissa creates works that are both visually engaging and emotionally expressive.

Melissa’s collection of 15 artworks in Convergence: Six Perspectives in Paint showcases her unique approach to texture and abstraction. Each painting reflects her belief that art is more than something beautiful to look at—it is a way to communicate stories, feelings, and creative energy.

Melissa’s artwork is currently on view in Gallery 2 on the main floor of the Center. We invite you to stop by and experience her colorful and imaginative paintings for yourself.

Convergence Artist Spotlight: Anna Pearsall

This week we’re featuring artist Anna Pearsall of C**t Island Works, whose evocative paintings explore the connections between the landscapes around us and the landscapes within.

Working in layers of acrylic and oil paint, Anna draws inspiration from the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest, creating works that blend observed places with memory, emotion, and imagination. Her paintings invite viewers to experience the sense of wonder, beauty, and understanding she finds while immersed in nature.

The name C**t Island Works comes from C**t Island in Southeast Alaska—a place deeply connected to Anna’s heritage and personal history. Through her artwork, she carries those memories and themes forward, creating meaningful connections between place, identity, and experience.

Anna’s artwork is currently on view in Gallery 3 on the main floor of the Center. We invite you to stop by and experience her thoughtful and immersive landscapes for yourself.

Convergence Artist Spotlight: Linnea Tobias

This week we’re featuring Washington-based artist Linnea Tobias, whose whimsical works blend vibrant color, layered texture, and everyday moments transformed through imagination.

Working across pastel, acrylic, watercolor, encaustic, collage, and printmaking, Linnea creates modern interpretations of nature inspired by daily walks, changing seasons, gardens, light, and the small details of everyday life. Her paintings balance the familiar with the dreamlike, weaving together abstract forms, patterns, and emotion into richly layered compositions that seem to glow from within.

Influenced by textile design, fairy tales, and the connection between the physical and spiritual worlds, Linnea’s work invites viewers into colorful scenes that feel both grounded and magical.

Linnea’s five featured works are currently on view upstairs as part of Convergence: Six Perspectives in Paint through June 27.

Convergence Artist Spotlight: Maria La Fleur

This week we’re featuring Washington-based artist and her series Cadence and Colors — a collection of music-inspired mixed-media works layered with fabric, jewels, sheet music, texture, and luminous color.

Blending impressionism, expressionism, and abstraction, Maria’s paintings evoke rhythm, emotion, and movement, inviting viewers to experience music through texture and visual storytelling.

Maria’s work is currently on view on the second floor of the Center as part of Convergence: Six Perspectives in Paint through June 27.

Convergence Artist Spotlight: Tracy Blake

This week we’re featuring Washington-based artist Tracy Blake of Guten Artistry, whose mesmerizing acrylic pour paintings blend flowing color, cosmic wonder, and ocean-inspired tranquility.

Through layered movement and vibrant textures, Tracy creates dreamlike works that invite viewers to pause, reflect, and drift into imagination.

Tracy’s artwork is currently on view in our newly opened gallery spaces inside the Center — rooms that once housed the historic Beuk Aie Temple. We’re thrilled to see these spaces filled with creativity, color, and community once again.

What a wonderful weekend at the Center for Arts & History! ☀️🎨

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Spring Downtown Artwalk on May 1–2 and helped make the event such a success. Friday’s artist reception featured all six exhibiting artists, live art demonstrations, music, food, drinks, beautiful weather, and an incredible community turnout.

On Saturday, families and visitors stopped by for free hands-on crafts, creating cupcake liner flowers and clothespin butterflies & dragonflies at the Center. 🦋🌸

We’re so grateful to our artists, guests, and community for celebrating art, creativity, and connection with us throughout the weekend. Thank you for making the event so special!

This is one of our largest exhibitions yet, with even more gallery spaces open and filled with work from six Pacific Northwest artists—all exploring paint in bold, unique ways.

Held in conjunction with the Downtown Artwalk, this event is free and open to the public.

Something mysterious is coming to the Center for Arts & History… 🔍✨

Join us on April 29 from 5:00–7:00 PM for a Murder Mystery Night in partnership with the LC State Gaming Club. What begins as an elegant evening of art and conversation quickly takes a dramatic turn when a shocking crime unfolds.

Step into an immersive experience filled with suspense, storytelling, and intrigue—all set within the gallery.

This event is open to LC State students. Registration is required through Do More.
