Open Daily Year Round! "Like" our page to be part of our updates, event announcements, and more! Ventfort Hall was the summer cottage of Sarah and George Morgan.

It was constructed between 1891 and 1893. The house has 28,000 square feet of living space in it, about 50 rooms. Ventfort Hall has been under restoration since 1997. In 1991 it was slated for demolition, during this time the paneling was stripped from the walls, and part of the roof collapsed. In June of 1997 it was rescued by the Ventfort Hall Association. The non-profit has slowly but surely been repairing the damage, as well as trying to establish a museum of the Gilded Age within its walls.

Many trees on the Ventfort Hall property were originally planted by George H Morgan. Each tree seems to hit its peak foliage moment at different times, conveniently keeping the property in peak foliage season all fall long.

Join us for a hauntingly delightful Halloween afternoon tea service at Ventfort Hall. This special light tea service offers a tempting sampling of treats inspired by our formal afternoon teas, with a few mysterious surprises along the way.

Enjoy a delectable tea sandwich and a variety of special sweets in the comfort of our Dining Room, or take your treats to the outdoor veranda.

Before or after tea, enjoy general admission to the museum with a separately purchased ticket. (Admission to the museum on Halloween does include access to our Salon Series lecture on The Art of Cemetery Symbolism!)

Join us on Halloween to learn about the art of cemetery symbolism! Take a virtual walk through some of New England’s cemeteries with Louise Levy and learn how to decipher the clues left behind on the headstones. From skulls and bones to doves and roses, we’ll learn how to interpret the symbols used to memorialize our ancestors.

Presentations will take place at 11:30am and 2:30pm, and are included with general museum admission.
