Ventfort Hall Mansion and Gilded Age Museum Open Daily Year Round! "Like" our page to be part of our updates, event announcements, and more! Ventfort Hall was the summer cottage of Sarah and George Morgan.

It was constructed between 1891 and 1893. The house has 28,000 square feet of living space in it, about 50 rooms. Ventfort Hall has been under restoration since 1997. In 1991 it was slated for demolition, during this time the paneling was stripped from the walls, and part of the roof collapsed. In June of 1997 it was rescued by the Ventfort Hall Association. The non-profit has slowly but surely been repairing the damage, as well as trying to establish a museum of the Gilded Age within its walls.

Our final Summer Saturday Light Tea Service is this Saturday, August, 29 at 12:30pm. This uplifting midday delight is self-served from a spread traditional varied tea offerings, as well as some chilled refreshing beverage options accompanied by a pretty spread of dessert nibbles and, of course, the famous Ventfort Hall cucumber tea sandwiches! 🥒 Keep your eyes out for some fall tea services to be announced….!

From silent butlers to button hooks, rug beaters to dumbwaiters, this upcoming presentation will look at some of the various tools and inventions used to run a proper Gilded Age household. See if you can guess what some of these strange devices were used for!

Ventfort Hall’s Louise Levy presents the Saturday Salon Talk “Tools of the Trade” in the Ventfort Hall Library on Saturday, August 29. Levy will discuss and demonstrate the tools of the Gilded Age Berkshire Cottage and large estate staff used to keep an elite household running smoothly and invisibly.

Curious about astrology but not sure where to start? In this two-hour, lecture-style class, we’ll demystify the basics so you can read a natal chart with confidence. We’ll cover the “big four” (Sun, Moon, Rising, and chart ruler), the 12 signs and their elements/modalities, the 12 houses (life areas), and the major aspects (conjunctions, trines, squares, etc.). You’ll learn how planets express in different signs, why house placement matters, and how transits activate your personal story. Midway, enjoy a light tea service to steep on what you’ve learned—pun intended.

This program is led by Chelsea Gaia, the Director of Programming & Events at Ventfort Hall. A student and practitioner of Tarot for 25 years, she offers her unique and personal insights to the art as well as standard practices and intuitive advice to any curious interpreter. Gaia primarily utilizes the modalities of Tarot and Astrology as tools for students and seekers to identify and hone personal intuition as a gateway to metacognition.

This Tuesday, August 25 at 4:00pm, Executive Director Wendy Healey will present the history and restoration (past, present, and future) of Ventfort Hall. Including exclusive photos of the third floor and basement!

Illustrated by an extensive collection of archival images, the talk offers a deep dive into the architectural and social soul of the estate. You will see the mansion through the lens of early Morgan family photographs, follow its bohemian mid-century chapters during the Festival House and Fokine Ballet eras, and witness the sobering period of subsequent change and physical deterioration.

The heart of this talk highlights the pivotal turning point in 1994, when a dedicated effort began to save this Lenox treasure. Wendy will share insights into the strategic initiatives and ongoing restoration journey—a monumental task that continues today. Through these compelling "then and now" visuals, the presentation offers a profound look at the resilience of our local heritage and the passionate community effort required to keep this Gilded Age icon standing for future generations.
