🌈🖼️ Thanks for adding even more color and life to the Family Day Fiesta! We had 134 people stop at our booth and some made scratch art. Instructional Coordinator Mackette Kark snapped these photos of artists at work. She enjoyed “the incredibly talented folkorico” dancers and celebrating “the rich tradition of art at Taylor Mesilla-Historic Site and New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum.” Make sure to visit our Museum and neighboring historic sites (Taylor-Mesilla and Fort Selden) for even more art, culture, and family fun year-round!

Make art at the Ag Wagon at the Family Day Fiesta in Mesilla! 🪅🤠 This Saturday (Aug. 22) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., we’ll have a scratch art activity joining Taylor-Mesilla Historic Site and other community organizations on the Old Mesilla Plaza for FREE family fun.

🎨🌈 Using a wooden stylus, artists will draw their design by scratching away the ink-coated layer of paper to reveal a rainbow background.

🎺🫧Enjoy every moment of the Family Day Fiesta by listening to mariachi music, watching folklorico dancers, finding tasty treats at the vendor booths, and trying kid friendly activities. 🏠🖼️ Explore Taylor Mesilla Historic Site to see J. Paul Taylor’s home and his family’s collection of fine art from New Mexican artists and folk art from around the world. The site will have free admission for Family Day.

Find the Ag Wagon program on Saturdays at the New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum. It’s included with regular admission for kids and accompanying adults. Ag Wagon and other educational programs are sponsored by the Friends of the NM Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum

Join us this Saturday for the opening of “Land & Legacy: Photographs from the Doña Ana Photography Club and the Photo Enthusiasts of El Paso" exhibit and an Artists Reception!

🗓️Artists’ Reception on Saturday, Aug. 15 from 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
📍New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum, 4100 Dripping Springs Road, Las Cruces, NM, 88011

This show brings pictorial glimpse of farming and ranching into focus through the expressive photos from the El Paso del Norte region. It will be on view in the Arts Corridor until Nov. 13 during the Museum’s regular hours (10 a.m. - 4 p.m., Monday to Saturday).

More information about the exhibit: Indigenous people began farming the land that is New Mexico between 4000 and 2500 years ago. J.D. Riddle, a 19th century photographer, took the first known photographs of farms and ranches in New Mexico. More than 140 years later, photographers, such as the talented members of the Doña Ana Photography Club and the Photography Enthusiasts of El Paso, still wander this state's crop and cattle lands seeking the photogenic.
The Doña Ana Photography Club and the Photography Enthusiasts of El Paso are camera clubs dedicated to providing photographers with educational, resource, and networking opportunities that support them in their professional, fine arts, and hobby pursuits. Both clubs are members of the Photographic Society of America, a global community of passionate photographers.
