URGENT: Benjamin is in the midst of looking through Otto Perry’s Color Film logs for footage of steam over Sherman Hill to digitize. Does anyone have any strong afflictions towards any specific steam locomotive? (4014, 844, and 535 are a given). Photo by Dell A McCoy from the collection of James R. Jones on 535’s excursion on August 4th, 1956, seen in the first film we had digitized.

Despite the quality of these images, they were taken by Benjamin Moore on October 5th with black and white film. It looks “aged” because the technique has existed for more than 100 years.

At the end of excursions, the Wyoming/Colorado Consist would back into the Spiegelberg Yard in Laramie, let everyone off, then wye in the UP yard, so that by the next trip, they could just back out of the Spiegelberg yard, and take off. This video by Robert Youngblood is one of the few to catch the excursion train on the wye.
