The Museum and Archives' speaker series continues next Thursday, May 28th at 6:30 p.m. in the meeting room when Paul Spellman, Ph. D. returns with a program on his ancestors, Zadock and Minerva Cottle Woods, and other members of the Woods family who settled near West Point in what is known as Woods Prairie. Always a very engaging speaker, Spellman is sure to mention Zadock Woods' involvement in the Dawson Massacre, along with two of his sons. He was one of the casualties and lies buried up on Monument Hill. Spellman will also bring his most recent books on the Woods family, including a historical fiction series geared to 10-15 year-olds based on the youngest son, Henry Gonzalvo Woods.

Join us this Thursday, May 14 from 10:00am-12:00pm for Crafty Connections with Country Peony! We will be diving into the world of block printing. You will design and carve your own custom stamp, then use it to create beautiful prints on textiles. The best part is you take your handmade block home with you so you can keep printing again and again on fabric, paper, and even wallpaper. Whether you are brand new or already love crafting, this is a relaxed and inspiring space to learn something new and connect with others. Come create with us and leave with a skill you can use long after the event. Call us at 979-968-3765 to reserve your spot today!

The Museum and Archives will be closed this Saturday, May 16th, so Wyatt and Rox Ann can present a program and man a booth at the Bluff SchuetzenFest. Our program will feature Gustav Heilig, a Bluff School teacher in the 1870s and member of the Bluff Schuetzen Verein. Our booth will feature a portable version of our popular La Grange Square Through Time. If you're at SchuetzenFest, stop by our booth and visit!

We had a 𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒆 time at our kids cooking class making artisan grilled cheese, full of cheesy goodness and crunchy golden crust! There was lots of creativity, a little bit of chaos, and a whole lot of melted cheese. Safe to say no one left hungry! Huge thank you to Kids Kitchen Academy for hosting this wonderful class!
