📣 MoNA Link is Seeking Tour Leaders! 🖼️

Do you enjoy working with kids? Are you interested in volunteering a few hours of your time each month to help connect Skagit Valley school students with art at MoNA?

The MoNA Link program is a partnership between the Museum of Northwest Art and local school districts that brings students closer to art through engaging museum experiences. The time commitment is flexible, ranging from just 1–4 hours per month, October through May. We’re happy to work with your schedule, and all training is provided!

We’re so excited to introduce our newest staff member! ✨

Meet Nic, who has joined the team as MoNA’s new Visitor Experience & Events Coordinator.

Nicolas (Nic) Aure was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area of California, later moving to Washington in 2023. Being surrounded by a circle of local artists, musicians, and rappers in California, he has developed a passion for various arts. Nic brings experience in museum and cultural settings, retail, events, and visitor engagement. In the past year, Nic has volunteered as a MoNA docent and supported museum programs, art auctions, and member events, where he developed a particular appreciation for connecting visitors with Northwest artists and their work.

Nic holds a Bachelor of Arts in Asian Studies with a minor in Art History from Temple University, Japan. His academic and professional experience has strengthened his interests in art, cultural history, research, and thoughtful interpretation. He has also worked in retail and food service, developing a strong foundation in customer service, community engagement, and event operations. An advocate for cultural tattooing, he has experienced the traditional hand-tap tattooing method of Paiwan (Taiwanese Indigenous), Filipino, and Iban (Borneo) traditional tattoos and interviewed cultural practitioners for research projects in university. Outside of MoNA, Nic enjoys doing archery and martial arts.

Don’t miss out! MoNA’s Teen Art Club is back tomorrow with the first session of the school year.

➡️ Friday, October 9, 3-5pm, in the MoNA Art Studio.

Teen Art Club is a free program for grades 6-12. Come make art, learn from working artists, meet other creative teens, and get the chance to display your work at MoNA. Snacks, drinks, and supplies are all provided, so just bring yourself and your creativity! 🎨

Tomorrow is the first Early Enrichment session this fall! 🎨🖌️🖍️

Young artists (ages 2–5) and their grownups are welcome to join us at MoNA for a fun morning of hands-on art, engaging stories, and playful sensory fun— all led by our awesome education team and volunteers.

This free weekly program runs most Wednesdays from October through May — perfect for families looking for a creative midweek outing! We hope to see you there! 🌟
