❤️ Two artists. Two very different mediums. One creative partnership.

Joelene and Joel Meckstroth each have their own artistic style, but sometimes their creative worlds come together.

Joelene creates detailed copper trees, jewelry, and scenes through Jo’s Copper Creations, while Joel celebrates the natural beauty of wood through JM Handcrafted.

And when Joelene needs just the right wood base or frame for one of her copper trees?

That’s where Joel comes in.

He cuts, sands, and finishes the wood bases and frames that help complete many of Joelene’s tree creations.

Copper, stone, and wood come together in pieces that feel right at home in the Pacific Northwest landscape that inspires them both.

We love seeing the creativity that happens when artists share not only a life, but a love of making things by hand.

Discover Joelene and Joel’s work at La Conner Artists’ Gallery.

The Art of Learning

One of the things Becky Brewster loves most about working with glass isn’t just the finished piece. It’s the learning that happens along the way.

Becky is constantly exploring new ways to work with glass, developing techniques that allow her to create more intricate and detailed artwork. And after more than a decade of creating, she’s found something especially meaningful within the glass art community.

Artists share.

Over the years, Becky has met many fellow glass artists who generously share their experiences, expertise, advice, and discoveries with one another.

That spirit of creativity and community is one of the things that makes art so special, and it’s something we’re proud to celebrate at La Conner Artists’ Gallery.

Stop in and experience Becky’s colorful Glass By Grace creations in person. ✨

Joelene & Jo’s Copper Creations

Copper, stone, patience, and a remarkable eye for detail. ✨

After retiring, Joelene Meckstroth began exploring the art of working with wire and quickly discovered that copper was her favorite medium.

And it’s easy to see why.

Joelene uses 99.9% pure copper in her creations and personally selects the semi-precious stones used in her pendants. Her detail-oriented style shines through in the intricate wrapping around each stone and in the tiny scenes she creates around her copper trees.

Her work ranges from one-of-a-kind wearable art to beautiful copper trees mounted on wood, stone, driftwood, and other natural bases.

No two pieces are quite alike, and that’s part of their charm.

Explore Jo’s Copper Creations at La Conner Artists’ Gallery and take a closer look at all those wonderful little details.

A New Chapter in Creativity

Sometimes the end of one chapter gives us room to discover something completely new. ❤️

About 14 years ago, after her children had all moved out of the house, Becky Brewster finally had the opportunity to explore something she had loved for years: stained glass.

What began as a chance to learn became a creative passion.

Today, Becky works from a spacious studio and shop on her Burlington property, a creative space she shares with her husband, where both stay busy pursuing the hobbies they love.

Becky describes her work as fun, colorful, and always evolving. She continues to explore new glass techniques and systems that help her bring more detail and imagination into every piece.

See Becky’s beautiful creations from Glass By Grace at La Conner Artists’ Gallery.

✨ Meet the Artists: Joelene & Joel Meckstroth ✨

For Joelene and Joel Meckstroth, inspiration starts right here in the beautiful Skagit Valley.

A lifelong Skagit Valley resident, Joelene draws inspiration from everything that makes our corner of the Pacific Northwest so special, from saltwater and green farm fields to forests and snow-capped mountains.

That love of nature finds its way into both of their work.

Through Jo’s Copper Creations, Joelene transforms pure copper and hand-selected stones into intricate jewelry, trees, and miniature scenes.

Through JM Handcrafted, Joel brings out the natural character of Pacific Northwest woods through his beautifully turned creations.

Together, they’re a wonderful example of how craftsmanship, nature, and a love of creating can come together.

Come discover their work at La Conner Artists’ Gallery!

What some might see as firewood, Joel Meckstroth sees as possibility. 🌲

Joel has always enjoyed creating with wood, from building things to carving small pieces. Several years ago, he decided to focus his attention on woodturning and set up a small workshop.

It didn’t take long before he was hooked.

Today, through JM Handcrafted, Joel turns beautiful pieces of wood into art, including functional creations that celebrate the grain, texture, and character already found within the material.

He especially enjoys working with woods found here in the Pacific Northwest, including wild cherry, walnut, wild maple, and other hardwoods.

And every now and then, you may even spot a piece accented with an inlay of turquoise, chrysocolla, or another semi-precious stone.

Come see what Joel has been creating at La Conner Artists’ Gallery.
