✨ Monday Member Spotlight ✨

This week we’re shining the spotlight on Dee Johnson, a member known for her incredible creativity, flair, and unmistakable pizzazz!

Dee has generously shared her decorating and design talents with the Key West Woman’s Club through events such as our Conch Country Dance Party and Denim to Diamonds—just to name a few!—helping transform ordinary spaces into unforgettable experiences.

Her artistic gifts extend far beyond our club. Dee’s exceptional sewing and design skills are even showcased at the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America in Daytona Beach—a testament to her craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Thank you, Dee, for bringing beauty, creativity, and enthusiasm to everything you do. We are grateful to have you as part of our KWWC family! 💎✨

Today we honor the brave women and men who served our country with courage, strength, and sacrifice. 🇺🇸

This Memorial Day, we remember those who gave everything for our freedom and thank all who have worn the uniform in service to our nation. Your dedication and sacrifice will never be forgotten. ❤️🤍💙

Today was a great day!!
Neighbors and club members gathered at Eleanor to help care for a historic section of the Rainbow Sea to Sea Flag before it returns to Orlando for the Pulse remembrance.☀️

Since 1941, when the Key West Woman’s Club opened sewing rooms here for the Red Cross, neighbors have gathered in this house to lend a hand, share stories, and work on projects that mattered to the community. That same spirit was alive today it felt amazing!! Thank you to everyone who came out to support. 🙏

Btw..One patch on the historic flag carries a tiny “KWWC ’26” stitch — a small piece of Key West traveling with the flag wherever it goes next.☀️

The original Pride flag was created in 1978 by Gilbert Baker, along with other volunteers and activists in San Francisco. It was first flown at the San Francisco Gay Freedom Day Parade on June 25, 1978.

The very first Pride flag had 8 colors, not 6 like the common version today.
* Each stripe had a specific meaning:
* Hot Pink = S*x
* Red = Life
* Orange = Healing
* Yellow = Sunlight
* Green = Nature
* Turquoise = Magic/Art
* Indigo = Harmony/Serenity
* Violet = Spirit

Sushi and other volunteers will be doing repair work on the flag….embroidery on the patches by stitching hearts, flowers, and other designs. If you would like to help with lease join us.

At the Take Stock In Children - Monroe County graduation, Kathryn Norris and Patricia Ali Neyra, chairs of the Bougie Tea party, met the second annual recipient of the $25,000 scholarship. Emily Nolasco-Ferrufino, pictured below holding Patty's puppy Gracy, was delighted to meet the women's club representatives. As the sole graduate from The College of the Florida Keys, Emily's achievement is particularly noteworthy. Please join us in congratulating Emily; we are all proud of her accomplishments and confident in her future success.
