Since 1994 Kenise Barnes Fine Art has focused on unique and exceptional contemporary art. The gallery represents more than 50 emerging and mid-career artists. Our thoughtfully curated solo and group exhibitions change every six weeks. We offer a carefully chosen selection of paintings, drawings, photography, and sculpture, and provide consulting services and collecting advice for the burgeoning to

the seasoned collector. Additionally, the gallery maintains a large inventory of quality artwork in our on-site warehouse. We are adept at developing site-specific, public and corporate projects. As a professional art consulting firm, we also source work from our wide network of artist’s studios, galleries, and auction houses. We work extensively with architects, interior designers, art advisors and homeowners to find the perfect fit whether it is an entire collection or one special piece. Kenise Barnes Fine Art opened in 1994 in Larchmont, NY and in May 2019 added a second location in the stunning Kent Barns complex in Kent, CT. In Spring 2021 the gallery closed the Larchmont location and expanded its presence in Kent by annexing a second building and is now doing business in our two barns in the beautiful Litchfield Hills and on our internet platforms (KBFA.com and 1st Dibs.com).

The Naturalist
 .
The Naturalist was commissioned by Arkansas Museum of Fine Art for the solo exhibition Tricia Wright: The Naturalist and subsequently purchased by AMFA in 2024 for their permanent collection.
This work explores my personal relationship with nature and reflects on time, the environment, and the value of human touch. The process begins and ends with the hand, starting with line drawings of the artist’s own feet and natural organisms from which she generate custom 3D printed forms used to emboss pulp paper. The embossed areas are finished by hand and gilded with gold leaf in varying hues.
 .
This work was produced at Dieu Donné, the leading organization for hand paper making in the US.

The crow is a powerful, dual symbol representing intelligence, transformation, mystery, and the bridge between the physical and spiritual worlds. Across global mythologies, this bird is viewed as both a sacred messenger and an omen of change. Corvids carry deep connections to divine insight, shadow work, and higher consciousness.
Intelligence and Adaptability: Crows possess high problem-solving skills, use tools, and remember human faces, symbolizing sharp wit and mental clarity.
Transformation and Rebirth: Because they are dark-feathered scavengers, they are tied to endings, but an ending is viewed as a necessary transition into a new beginning.
These beauties are by KK Kozik and included in the current exhibition The Naturalist through Sept. 13

I began working with organic homemade inks after studying historical materials and traditional
methods with the director of conservation at the Smith College Art Museum in Northampton, MA. The
exploration of organic pigments and mediums inspired me to continue on my own, researching
traditional ink recipes.
Black walnut ink soon because my preferred formula not only for its archival pigment permanence
and stability as a medium, but for the incredibly varied chromatic richness, and the beautiful range of
cool to warm tones that it produces in layering and washes.
I collect black walnuts on hikes; gathering the materials outdoors while out walking and making the
ink in my studio feel integral to the drawing process for me. Margot E Glass (from her artist’s statement, 2026)

Every summer when certain plants come sprouting back everywhere I feel renewed wonder for them in spite of how many times I have attempted to draw them before. I enjoyed the challenge of scaling smaller on prepared panels to make this group
My show is up in the Project Space on view through 7/26. I’m so happy to be able to share work again in this gem of a spot in the gallery alongside beautiful paintings by Gregory Hennen and David Koenigsberg
