Celebrating Indigenous Peoples’ Day today, and every day.
While Aan Hít is closed today as part of our fall and winter operating schedule, our celebration of Indigenous history, culture, and people continues every day.
The photograph hanging above the fireplace in our space captures what Aan Hít looked like in the early 1900s. It’s a reminder of how far we’ve come in a relatively short amount of time, the history held within these walls, and the generations of our people who have shaped this place. Today, we carry that legacy forward, building a future where our cultures, stories, art, and people continue to thrive.
At Aan Hít, our mission goes beyond the art on our walls and the goods on our shelves. We are part of a greater movement to reclaim our land, perpetuate our cultures, and uplift our people, stories, and traditions for generations to come. Every piece of Native art, every story shared, and every connection made within this space is a reminder that our cultures are living, thriving, and evolving. We honor the ancestors who came before us, the artists and culture bearers keeping our traditions strong today, and the generations who will carry them into the future.
To everyone who shops with us, celebrates with us, and supports the Native artists whose work fills Aan Hít: Gunalchéesh, Háw'aa, T’oya̱xsut ‘nüüsm. Thank you for helping us create a space where our art, culture, and people are seen, celebrated, and valued.
Our history is not just something to remember. It is something we live, protect, and carry forward. We are still here, and we will be here for generations to come! 🙌🏽
