Today Ive been reflecting on why I chose this profession and the fact is… I didn’t. It chose me. So I am taking this moment to thank every member of my family, every friend, every volunteer, every colleague, and each and every student for helping me get to this threshold where I am humbled and standing in the shadows of those who came before me.

And realizing that I am nothing without each of you. The sum of the parts is greater that the whole and hopefully my 30th year with the Survey will be as productive and efficient and collaborative as each preceding year has been. Together we are going to rock the Nation in fiscal year 2027 🤠😉🌊

Mom said shoot for the stars, even if you only make it to the moon, you will have gotten where no woman has gone before….and now I know what she meant. 🔨⚒️🔎🔬🎤🤩 I’m old, I’m a little tired, but I’m not dead yet 😂

Flotation, are you aware of how important this is? If you are excavating a site and you’re not doing this, you have NO clue what you’re missing 😂🤣😆🤠 Ride the 🌊 with us or just 🏄‍♀️ for the answers. Howl YAaaaSsss…it’s FRIDAY. And I am proud to be a HOG in Red Wolf clothing. More Lithics Ceramics and Bone tools will be in future posts from the station 🚊🚞💺🚉🚂 the research station, that is.

Happy Monday folks 💕🥳💃🥑 👋🌊. I’m riding the national avocado wave. On the right is what’s happening in Archaeology today (stolen from a girlfriend’s text). If the evidence isn’t published and vetted then the “story is just a story” and not the truth. There’s a lot of people telling “stories” with no data to back them up. If they don’t publish the data, there’s no way to determine the truth. So here a new word for some of you, ground truth. We’ll be doing this at Greenbrier next June, to see what an apparently unburned house looks like. On the left, those purple scribbles are simply planning scribbles from this weekend. The only way to know how old the house is and who lived there and how it’s related to the other houses is to do excellent field archaeology
