It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of our dear friend and longtime artist, John Simms.

For many years, John was a cherished part of the Diehl Gallery family. He remains the only Jackson Hole artist represented by the gallery—a distinction that reflects not only his extraordinary talent, but his deep connection to this place and community.

Visitors to the gallery were captivated by John's sculptures—the iconic bison, graceful kinetic forms, and works inspired by the landscapes and wildlife he loved so deeply. Yet before he became known as an artist, John had already lived several extraordinary lives.

A pioneering ski patroller, avalanche forecaster, inventor, entrepreneur, river guide, fisherman, and conservation-minded outdoorsman, John helped shape the culture of Jackson Hole during its formative years.

Frustrated by shortcomings in the fishing equipment available to guides, he founded SIMMS Fishing Products, a company that would become one of the most respected names in fly fishing worldwide.

What made John so special, however, was not simply what he accomplished. It was the way he moved through the world.

Many of us were fortunate enough to know John not only as an artist, but as a friend. We extend our deepest condolences to John's family and loved ones.

It was an honor to know him, to represent his work, and to call him our friend.

Brooklyn-based painter Jason Rohlf translates his experience of urban and digital worlds into layered, organic abstractions that bristle with color and energy.

“In the Information Age, I want people to see real things, things that people make with their hands,” Rohlf says.

To learn more about "Fortune Teller (Night Launch)" and Rohlf’s full collection of work, call or email us today.

Beyond an observational viewing experience, Donald Martiny encourages engagement and participation with the painting. By eschewing the ground (canvas or panel) altogether, the painting directly addresses the viewer and relates more dynamically to the space around it.

These massive brushstrokes offer a potent exchange, inviting the viewer closer, even inside the work. The intimacy is instantaneous and intensely visceral.

Email or call the gallery to inquire about available works from Martiny’s collection.

We are pleased to announce representation of Anise Aiello. Anise grew up visiting the gallery, where her parents—both Diehl Gallery represented artists—exhibited their work.

As a child, she was often found drawing on the gallery floor, immersed in the world around her.

Now an internationally exhibited artist with a practice grounded in research and material exploration, she returns as one of our newest artists—marking a meaningful full circle.

Anise's practice is grounded in academic research, a connection to water, and a deep commitment to detail and craft.

Please join us in welcoming Anise to Diehl Gallery!

We are incredibly proud to see Robert Mars work featured in the latest issue of Architectural Digest, showcasing the home of actor Patina Miller and Robert’s brother, David Mars.

The featured artwork, titled "Hip Hop Royalty", is a deeply personal project.

Created as a collaboration between the two brothers, the piece serves as a "Mount Rushmore of rap"—featuring legendary MCs like Queen Latifah, Slick Rick, Rakim, and Nas (a business partner of David’s).
