Sunday is the 2nd of two Barnes-Hecker 100th Anniversary cemetery tours in Ishpeming, 1pm till 4. Several families will be graveside telling the stories of their loved ones. Most will have photos and others artifacts that make it a fuller experience. It's sad, but also a part of our local history. It's also a way to honor those who were lost. Come to the Sexton office for directions.

This historic building has lived many lives - what does the future hold for this landmark in downtown Ishpeming?

ISHPEMING, Mich. (WBUP/WJMN) — Their lives were lost a century ago, but their memory lives on thanks to many events being put on this year in memory of 100 years

Many great stories and memories were shared at the Barnes/Hecker Memorial Cemetery Tour today. Besides sharing our own family history, listening to other’s was just as meaningful. That’s the way it is with Oral History - sometimes someone else’s history fills in yours.
If you didn’t attend today, we look forward to seeing you on August 16, cancelled only by rain. Don’t forget to wander over to the St John side, Ishpeming - there’s a few of is over there.
