Gibbs-Powell Home and Walker County Museum The museum is the historical home of the Gibbs and Powell families. The mission of the museum is to preserve and share the history of Walker County.

Today the Walker County Historical Commission was able to honor Richard Williams and his descendants with a Historical Marker on the Court House square. While in the 12th Texas Legislature, Williams was dedicated to maintaining law and order and equal rights. A display about Richard Williams' Legacy is at the museum through the end of August.

After monitoring the weather, a Rain Contingency Plan for the Richard Williams Marker Dedication has been developed. In case of rain, the program will be held at the Gibbs-Powell Home and Walker County Museum at the corner of Eleventh Street and Avenue M.
