It’s also a chance to meet other foster caregivers, share a conversation, and connect with people who may understand what your days look like.

When our daughter Katy grew up, my husband and I felt that in addition to education, we wanted to ensure that she was exposed to the Arts, Music, Museums, Zoos, etc. This love for learning was transferred from our daughter to her daughter, our granddaughter. Therefore, when the opportunity became available to support a local Huntington Children’s Museum, we were onboard with the concept.

Once the Huntington Children’s Museum became a reality, I immediately wanted to be a volunteer so I could be a part of the children’s growth as they learn through playing. At the same time, the museum became a wonderful place to take our granddaughter and watch her explore everything the museum has to offer.

Together my granddaughter and I can pretend to go grocery shopping, create meals, and do check-ups on the dolls. We can build projects using Lego’s, make our own animation movies, evaluate bugs, etc. with the microscope and play at the water table which allows our engineering skills to flow as we create damns, build bridges, troughs, etc. Even the climbing area is a learning opportunity as she wants “timed” as she quickly goes through the maze.

I’m proud to be a part of the HCM because the opportunities are endless since creativity is encouraged, curiosity is sparked, and learning is fostered through the various programs and activities.

Whether your little one loves making music, getting messy, or exploring something new, we've got something for them this week!

Wednesday, November 4

Music for Growing | 10:15–11:00 AM — Explore music, movement, and connection through this interactive music therapy program.

Slime Superstars | 3:30–4:30 PM — Our fabulous young leaders are back for another afternoon of ooey, gooey, slime-making fun! This youth-led program gives kids a chance to learn from other kids while getting wonderfully messy.

Sound Exploration | 10:30–11:00 AM — Discover musical instruments from around the world!

Sunday, November 8

Skylar's Story Time | 2:00–2:30 PM — Join PEP for a story and a fun activity!

Of course, our exhibits are ready for exploring all week long. Bring your curiosity and come PLAY!

November is here, and we've got another exciting month of play, discovery, and creativity planned at Huntington Children's Museum!

We're welcoming back favorites like Music for Growing, Slime Superstars, Chess Champs, and LEGO Club, along with opportunities to explore movement, music, healthy foods, and more!

Congrats to Kati Holland - our very first Pumpkin Carving Contest Kids Choice Award! Our young Museum visitors had the opportunity to fill out ballots to vote for their favorite pumpkin! The votes have been tallied and Kati’s garden-inspired pumpkin was the runaway winner!
