Saturday’s Step Into the Story was one for the books!

Families stepped right into the world of Llama Llama for a day filled with stories, imaginative play, creative activities, costumes, and a visit from Llama Llama himself.

We loved seeing so many children arrive dressed as favorite characters, and we have to give a special shout-out to the family who committed to the theme by bringing all of their kiddos in matching red pajamas!

Our staff and volunteers got in on the fun, too, dressing up and helping make the day feel extra special. Guests also added their own creativity to our giant collaborative storybook, filling its pages with drawings and ideas throughout the day.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Step Into the Story and helped turn a favorite book into a day of play, creativity, and some pretty wonderful memories.

Thank you Toyota for awarding Huntington Children’s Museum a $3,500 grant to support our Museums for All initiative. Over 430 guests facing economic hardships will receive reduced admission thanks to this funding.

Through Museums for All, those receiving food assistance can gain free or reduced admission to more than 1,300 museums throughout the United States. At Huntington Children’s Museum, guests with WIC or SNAP benefits receive reduced admission by showing their WIC or SNAP card. Reducing admission from $10 to $2 through the Museums for All initiative ensures our museum is more accessible to those facing financial hardships. If you or your business is interested in supporting our Museums for All initiative, please email [email protected].

We’re excited to share we received a $2000 Spark Good local grant from Walmart Barboursville, Walmart South Point, and Sam's Club. This grant will help with our Museums for All initiative. Through Museums for All, HCM is able to expand its reach to include families struggling with economic hardships by reducing admission costs from $10 to $2 for recipients of SNAP and WIC benefits as well as foster families. We are proud to spark good in our community!

Overheard at the Museum:

“We have to build a cave for Harold to protect him from predators!”

Predator protection: accomplished.

Sometimes play means stacking a few logs. Sometimes it means identifying a critical threat, engineering a solution, and making absolutely certain Harold lives to see another day.

We take Harold’s safety very seriously around here.

Join Nurse Patty and Charlie on Wednesday for Teddy Bear Checkup, where children can bring their favorite stuffed friend for a special checkup while learning about how our bodies work.

On Thursday, little ones and their grownups can get moving together at Little Movers Club, led by Jackie Martin, OTR/L.

On Saturday, meet us at Gazebo Park for a free Kids Yoga session as part of Summer Saturdays programming.

Then on Sunday, wrap up the week with Skylar’s Story Time, featuring a story and activity presented by PEP.

All programming is free with admission unless otherwise noted. HCM is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 AM to 5 PM.
