Calling all Dalmatian Owners! 🐾❤️

Have you been waiting for a cool Dalmatian meet-up in the Northeast? Wait no longer! The FASNY Museum of Firefighting is hosting its annual fire safety and prevention event, Dalmatian Day 2026, on October 3, 2026, from 10:00 am-3:00 pm. As the event approaches, we're looking for Dalmatians and their owners to join in on the fun!

If your Dal is up to date on its shots, is good with crowds, children, and other dogs, and is an all-around excellent doggy citizen, consider signing up today to be one of our featured Dalmatians at this exciting community event!

Today is ! World Distance Learning Day recognizes the power of flexible education and celebrates the innovative ways technology helps deliver learning opportunities globally 🌎

At the FASNY Museum of Firefighting, students from across the globe can learn important fire safety education or STEM/STEAM concepts through our award-winning virtual programming. Students can learn about fire safety with Firefighter Fran, the science of fire with Professor Sparks, or travel back in time and learn economics or art with Fiona Flannagan!

Happy ! International Dog Day, celebrated every August 26, honors our beloved canine companions. This special day encourages adoption from shelters, promotes responsible pet ownership, and recognizes the unconditional love that dogs bring into our lives 🐾

The Museum team would like to take this opportunity to celebrate and introduce our canine educators: Molly the Museum Dog and Greta the Detector Dog. Both Molly and Greta are not only wonderful companions to our team, but they also serve as fantastic canine ambassadors for the Museum. They help us teach important fire safety and prevention education to visitors from around the world.

Molly helps teach visitors about the fascinating history of Dalmatians and their role in the fire service. She also demonstrates important fire safety techniques such as "stop, drop, and roll" and “get low and go” for escaping a fire. Greta shows how dogs use their sense of smell to detect accelerants that may cause fires and helps build visitors' confidence around unfamiliar dogs. Both girls are invaluable assets to the Museum, and we invite you to join us in celebrating them on International Dog Day! ❤️

As we approach the 25th anniversary of September 11th, we wanted to share that the FASNY Museum of Firefighting’s Assistant Curator, Lauryn Czyzewski, will present Hidden Heroes: Extraordinary Stories of Courage from 9/11 at the Kinderhook Memorial Library on Thursday, September 10th at 6:00 pm.

This presentation highlights the heroism of other 9/11 stories that are sometimes overlooked, including the story of a New York State volunteer firefighter known as The Man in the Red Bandanna.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for another free community event at the FASNY Museum of Firefighting! 🦸💥

We had a fantastic time spending the morning with our young superheroes who took on the Superhero Obstacle Course. We loved your energy! Plus, we had Hudson's very own Batman helping us out at the event. Thank you to everyone for making it such a fun day!
