A video feature courtesy of about James and Katia’s first ever collaborations is up on our website! Click the link in our bio to watch, as the artists and partners embark on their first visual collaboration: two reduction woodcut prints, published by Shore Publishing. "Move by move, these images were created, alternating between Katia and James' hands," writes Mae Shore. "Each layer is recognizable to their particular style but comes together in the most harmonic way.”

This collaboration is on view alongside their second collaborative set of prints, also with .

“I started jigsawing nice store bought stretcher bars for a few reasons: It’s a great stupid thing to do, who else who be such a fool. It makes things weird, always a plus. I later found that if the outer edges aren’t the straightest, it can make my quickly painted straight-ish lines feel a bit straighter as they leapfrog over the tyranny of the physical edge, a bonus aspect. There’s rectangles and shaped paintings (E Murray, Gorchov, Overstreet etc- all great) but what about splitting the difference? And I found it is not always noticed on the first beat, a nice unsettling reorientation effect. Also gimmicks can be great when it signals some individuality. It’s harder than keeping them as is, and “why would I do this?” tries to put you in my absurd shoes.” - Tom Burckhardt

JAMES SIENA’s etchings with Harlan & Weaver are on view now! Come see this suite of Nine Prints Thursday through Sunday!

James Siena is a New York based artist whose complex, rule-based linear abstractions have situated him firmly within the trajectory of modern American art. His artwork is driven by self-imposed predetermined sets of rules, or “visual algorithms,” which find their end-result in intensely concentrated, vibrantly-colored, freehand geometric patterns. Siena works across a diverse range of media, including lithography, etching, woodcut, engraving, drawing, and painting.

“Two Plus Two Equals Three,” the joint exhibition for partners and artists Katia Santibañez and James Siena continues through April 2.

ON VIEW | Tom Burckhardt: “Heads”

“I'm trying to bring the paintings up to an invisible line, the watershed between recognizability and visual wandering. I’m interested in is this initial recognition of the structure of a human face. Before the questions of gender or specifics of emotion or even race. It's more basic and peculiar than that. The first thing we're trying to decide is are these actually human or not.” - Tom Burckhardt

KATIA SANTIBAÑEZ in “Two Plus Two Equals Three” | The joint exhibition for artists and partners Katia Santibañez and James Siena continues through April 2.

Katia Santibañez’s work utilizes grid structures to examine the intricacies and minutiae of organic forms. Beginning with a grid, she approaches the canvas precisely and allows every inch to have its own expressive quality. Santibañez examines how objects of nature can be structured to magnify a canvas. Layers of sharp, kaleidoscopic patterns come together to create hypnotic, yet tranquil abstract canvases. There is a vibrancy reflected through the order. The mixture of a rigid formal base with swirling swaths of color leads viewers to contemplate each component as its own entity while simultaneously absorbing how they come together as a whole.
