Ana Chapman is an artist from Texas, residing in the Houston area that pulls her inspiration from many years of travel as a traveling medical sales representative and manager. During her college years, she provided for the needs of herself and young daughter by selling her artworks to Northern dealerships, doctors, attorney offices, and various businesses and Ohio collectors. While at the Universi
ty of Toledo, Ana was very active with the University Art and Literary Guild and participated in the "Artist in Schools" program in which she taught the arts at Christ the King elementary. Ana continued to paint, write, and perform at the Westgate Dinner Theatre until she received a marketing position in Dallas, Texas. After years of occasionally picking up a brush and painting when she was "in the mood" while dedicating herself to the medical marketplace and writing music she found herself diagnosed with a third bout of cancer. This time, breast cancer, and it decided to linger longer than anyone had anticipated; long enough to start her painting again on a regular basis. With it, came a love affair with color in a primitive style that flows naturally and an "in your face directness" to embrace life and its vibrancy. When interviewed by the Houston Chronicle a question was posed as to what is Ana's favorite color, she replied, "The Rainbow." Critics have time and time again described her works as heavy, uplifting and most recently "Happy Art". A criticism she is glad to embrace. Ana's works have never been declined for acceptance in any juried show that she has wished to enter. So enjoy her work, and Get Happy!
