Kristin Saleri ๐
1916-2006
Kristin Saleri was born in Silivri, Turkey, the youngest of five children of Armenian parents. She received her initial art training at the Istanbul Academy of Fine Arts and later under Andrรฉ Lhote in Paris. During her lifetime, she produced more than 3,000 pieces of art, mainly oil paintings, and won a number of prestigious international awards.
Saleri held more than 40 individual exhibitions over four decades. Her canvases come alive with a harmonious blend of Eastern mysticism and Western impressionism. Kristin Saleri's works have been acquired by museums and private collectors worldwide.
From the 1960s onwards, Kristin Saleri mentored dozens of young artists from her studios in Istanbul. With her relentless energy and humor, she remained a source of inspiration for many aspiring artists.
The Kristin Saleri Art Foundation was established in 2011 by Dr. Nansen G. and Mrs. Marina S. Saleri to memorialize her contributions to 20th century art.
