BLAFFER Art Museum Blaffer Art Museum is the contemporary art museum at the University of Houston. Always FREE. Closed Mondays.

Located at UH’s central campus, Blaffer Art Museum is a catalyst for creative innovation, experimentation, and scholarship. Its exhibitions and programs are FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC, create community through dialogue and participation and inspire an appreciation for the visual arts as a vital force in shaping contemporary culture. Visit Blaffer Art Museum Tues-Fri 10:00am-5:00pm and Sat-Sun 12:00pm-5:00pm.

Mindful Museum In partnership with Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) followed by a short guided exhibition tour by Dr. Laura Augusta, Blaffer Director and Chief Curator.

Perspectives, conversation with David R. Dow. Perspectives are gallery conversations led by scholars, experts, and artists in a wide range of fields. Speakers respond to the artworks on view, bringing their own expertise to the exhibition topic.

Dow is the founder of Texas’s oldest innocence project, the Texas Innocence Network, an organization that uses UH law students to investigate claims of actual innocence brought by Texas prisoners. Over the past twenty years, Dow and his team have represented more than one hundred death row inmates at every stage of their state and federal appeals. Dow’s acclaimed TED talk on the death penalty has been viewed more than 4 million times. (TED talk link in bio) 🔗👆

Join Damjan Rakonjac (Assistant Professor of Musicology, Moores School of Music ) and Madelyn Washington (Head of User Services, UH Libraries ) for a deep dive into the central connections to music and the hymn "Amazing Grace", in the exhibition Adriana Corral: AS LONG AS LIFE ENDURES, which takes its title from a line in the hymn.

What are Perspectives at the Blaffer?

Perspectives are gallery conversations led by scholars,experts, and artists in a wide range of fields. Speakers respond to the artwork on view, bringing their own expertise to the exhibition topic. Held at noon, museumgoers are encouraged to stay and continue the discussion over lunch (provided).
