The city of Pasadena has been pursuing deed restriction violations against the Alvarez family for over 5 years. All because they added a room on to their garage to care for their aging mother who suffered from dementia. On March 31st, 2026, at trial in the 80th civil district court, 85 notarized documents were officially submitted that were discovered to be forged. We have sent the District Attorney’s Office a request for a criminal investigation regarding this situation.
This case began in 2019 after neighbors used their friendship with the current and former mayors to deprive the Alvarez family of their rights as citizens to live unmolested in Pasadena Texas. The actions of the two neighbors, Ralph Morrisey and Robbie Lowe, along with the city of Pasadena, suffered no provable damages, but were allowed to continue to harass and pursue the Alvarez family just for trying to care for their elderly and sick mother. After being hauled into court numerous times over the years by the plaintiffs and the city of Pasadena, the Alvarez family lost their mother to dementia before she could move into the new room that they were trying to build for her. We will attach the sheet that Mr. Morrisey sent to Mr. Alvarez to intimidate him.
A sitting judge allowed the city of Pasadena and the Plaintiffs to continually use charged and misleading words and descriptions. The judge and both attorneys referred to their one room addition as “an apartment building”. The judge threatened Mr. Alvarez with arrest for contempt if he mentioned his mother, her medical condition, or that she had recently died. The fact that they had obtained permits from the city, only to have them revoked was never mentioned due to the restrictions placed on them. Judge Aston appeared to favor one side over the other and allowed the perjured documents and perjured testimony to be side lined and kept the trial going. She allowed the plaintiffs to rebut the closing arguments, and allowed one of the plaintiffs lawyers, Mr. Martinez, to testify as an expert witness, while denying the defendant’s lawyer, who is certified in real estate law, to do the same. Pasadena Mayor Thomas Schonbein even had Stephen Alvarez arrested at a public meeting for speaking out against the city and himself. Pasadena City Councilman Ornaldo Ybarra wrote a sworn statement in support of Stephen Alvarez which is attached here. The court is currently threatening Mr. Alvarez and his family with jail time as the city of Pasadena enforces deed restrictions that the Texas Property Code says cannot be enforced by Cities or government, only residential organizations. The judge awarded damages against this Hispanic family without any proof, and another Hispanic businessman in downtown Pasadena is having the same tactics used against him. The city of Kemah accused the same attorney, Mr. Helfand of hiding aggravated perjury. We are asking for a fair and impartial investigation of this incident for any possible criminal violations.
