MAMMOTH: Echoes of the Ice Age
Opening September 5 at Art House Hot Springs.

A new exhibition by renowned wildlife artist Esther van Hulsen imagines the mammoth not simply as something lost to the past, but as something that might once again occupy our contemporary landscape.

Born in the Netherlands and now based in Drøbak, Norway, Van Hulsen trained in scientific illustration at the historic Art Academy Minerva. Her award-winning work has appeared in National Geographic, Nature, and Popular Science, and her originals are held in museum collections in both Europe and the United States.

Created using materials with direct ties to the mammoth itself, the works incorporate pigments containing traces of woolly mammoth DNA, brushes made from mammoth hair, and handcrafted elephant-fiber paper.

The exhibition is offered at auction for the benefit of The Mammoth Site, supporting its ongoing research, education, and preservation programs.
