Pioneer Museum, Hot Springs, SD The Pioneer Museum was originally built in1893 as a school for all 12 grades. It served as Hot Springs school until 1961.

In that same year, it was acquired by the Fall River Historical Society and opened as our museum.

So many exciting things happening at the Museum this Saturday!!

Join us on Saturday, June 6th, for Free Admission Day as we celebrate Founder's Day. Incorporation papers establishing the Fall River County Historical Society/Pioneer Museum were filed 65 years ago, on June 6, 1961.

Please join us at 2 p.m. on June 6th for the dedication of the Russell Wyatt Memorial Building.

Notice is given that sealed bids on two spiral fire escapes installed at the Grade school building in Hot Springs, Fall River County, South Dakota, will be received by the Board of Education up to 6 o'clock p. m., Oct. 29. Wm. T. Richer, Clerk of the Board of Education.

1928—fire escapes bought for grade school for $2,860.

In 1961, Hot Springs built a new school and the sandstone one was left unused. That year the Fall River County Historical Society was formed and the building was donated by the school, to the county, to be used as a museum.
