Who knew painting sunflowers could be so fun?? I knew. We had 2 really great classes today at the Holland Area Arts Council. Thank you everyone for making my job so fun and so easy. We 50 yrs old+ s get together every first Tuesday of each month at the arts council to create something fun and beautiful. I am grateful for this opportunity to be with these amazing folks. Start your Monday with a little creativity! 🪁Grab a piece of paper, even a napkin will do. and a pencil, then tune in to WHTC.com at 7:50 AM this Monday to draw along with Carolyn!

This week's project is this rocket to fly us into space. Who doesn't love the idea of going into space. Okay, honestly, I don't have the nerves to actually get into a rocket, but it's still fun to imagine. Remember, it's not about creating a perfect drawing. It's about slowing down, enjoying the process, and taking a few moments for yourself.

A local couple, Mike and Roberta Mitchell came to me a bit ago and asked if I would create and donate a piece of art representing their dream of a place for locals to come and sit and remember their pets who have passed. For those unfamiliar with the concept, the Rainbow Bridge is a comforting metaphor. It represents a place where pets who have passed away wait to be joyfully reunited with their owners, so they can cross into heaven together. They shared with me a popular poem written by Edna Clyne-Rekhy called the Rainbow Bridge which now is the focus of my art. I am always proud to be a part of these meaningful projects around our beautiful community. This bridge is located in Ottawa Beach Rd towards the state park.

Hearing Dolly Parton's passing yesterday stopped me in my tracks. I was kind of hoping she would live forever with her big smile and her philanthropic heart. We have all heard that one person can make a difference and she definitely did with her one good deed after another. She seemingly was always kind to everyone she met, accepting everyone for who they were. What a world it would be if we could all be more like Dolly! Rest in Peace Dolly, and thank you for being such a great example of love and kindness.
