From the Holt Heritage Center, Lolo:

“Last night, Highway 93 was shut down and the power lines were turned off and dropped as the old Lolo School building, complete with its bell tower, was moved about a mile to its new home at Holt Heritage Center up Highway 12.

Our family is very excited because a huge wildlife mural painted by Travis Cole’s grandpa Les Peters will be displayed in the schoolhouse when this project is complete. The mural was painted originally for the Bitterroot Conference Room in the basement of the Florence Building back when it was a hotel. After that, the mural hung high in the Missoula Airport before its renovation — but has been in temperature controlled storage ever since. We are so thrilled it will get a new life with Ramona and the wonderful folks at Holt Heritage Center, just like the beloved Lolo Schoolhouse.”

You may have noticed that since September we have been spotlighting a roll call of MAM members, in alphabetical order of locality and with frequent detours, concluding with the post before last. We’ll start again this fall, but in the meantime, if we missed you (it’s mainly off last year’s brochure), feel free to throw something blunt at MAM Facebook.

Or, if you are of a less violent persuasion, just DM us below, and we will spotlight your institution in short order. As we will for any member’s news and information. All for the low, low, low price of FREE!
