I appreciate my feathered friends, the birds, and their admirable traits, such as their communal nature and nurturing parenting skills. Their songs and calls are also a wonder to behold and serve as essential means of communication within their communities. Their songs and calls are also a wonder to behold and serve as an essential means of communication within their communities.
In the months ahead, I plan to create more of these paintings. 

I love working with a gelli plate to print colorful prints that can be used to create beautiful bird images. The background created using layered painting techniques can bring unique and unexpected results. It’s amazing how different textures, colors, and shapes combine to create something extraordinary and one-of-a-kind.

Possible painting styles for a commission. These are samples of earth tones using
Transparent Red Iron Oxide, Transparent Yellow Iron Oxide, Burnt Sienna, and Burt Umber.

I blended these colors with a generous amount of semi-gloss medium with the paints.
I used a heavy card stock postcard and moved the paint around the 8 x 10 birch panel. This is just one of three different samples of the blending processes I sent to the client.

The wood cutout figures of St.Francis and the Wolf are the top layer. This piece measures 28”h x 10”w. I loved making this icon painting it was a joyful way to start the New Year. I welcome commissions and enjoy working with people to imagine unique pieces of art for their homes.
