🦉 WILD ABOUT WILDLIFE!

Our second School’s Out day took us on a fascinating exploration of Virginia’s wildlife!

Our young explorers learned about native birds of prey, dissected owl pellets and put their creativity to work designing animal-proof trash cans to help keep wildlife safe.

We wrapped up the day with a special virtual visit from the Wildlife Center of Virginia, where we met their American Kestrel ambassador!

A big thank you to the Wildlife Center for helping make our day extra special!

SUPPER CLUB IS BACK!

What a wonderful time we had at our first fall Supper Club! Our young chefs rolled up their sleeves to make parmesan cauliflower, muffin tin lasagna, and watermelon blueberry salad, then gathered around the table to enjoy their delicious creations with new friends.

We kicked off the first Young Explorers of the fall season with some good, clean fun! Our preschool scientists explored their way through a mountain of bubbles while discovering that the best learning is hands-on (and a little messy)!

What do Calder, Seurat, Escher and Frank Lloyd Wright have to do with STEM? More than you might think!

We’re kicking off something NEW at Explore More...our first homeschool class series! The middle school Art of STEM class will take inspiration from famous artists and architects as students explore force and motion, patterns, architecture, light and color through hands-on projects.

The fun starts next week, and we still have room for a few more middle school participants!

Grades 5–8 | Wednesdays in October | 12:30–2:30 PM

When school’s out, learning is IN at Explore More!

We kicked off our first School’s Out session of the new school year with a deep dive into oceans and water pollution. Kids tested the density of salt water, designed inventions to clean trash from the "ocean," and spent some time building cool structures with KEVA planks.

A huge thank you to Megan Trice from Shenandoah Valley Soil and Water Conservation District for leading us in an Enviroscape experience. This demonstrated how pollution can travel from our homes and communities, through local waterways, and eventually make its way to the ocean.

A pretty great way to spend a day off from school!
