𝙏𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙖𝙣𝙖 𝘽𝙞𝙡𝙗𝙖𝙤 𝙀𝙎𝙏𝙐𝘿𝙄𝙊: 𝘽𝙤𝙧𝙧𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙙 𝙀𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙝 🪏

Join us next 𝗦𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟰, 𝟮–𝟱 𝗣𝗠 in the Sculpture & Architecture Park to mark the opening of 𝘉𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘥 𝘌𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘩, concluding Art Omi's 2026 fall architecture programming.

The opening will be celebrated with a 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗯𝘆 𝗟𝗶𝘁𝗮 𝗩𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗲𝘇𝗮 𝗮𝘁 𝟯 𝗣𝗠. Presented in the open air, Vinueza, an Ecuadorian-American anti-disciplinary artist and founder of Sonic Liberation Devices (SLDs), will respond to 𝘉𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘥 𝘌𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘩 using custom-designed electronic instruments.

𝘉𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘥 𝘌𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘩, a newly commissioned work by the internationally recognized practice Tatiana Bilbao ESTUDIO, has been constructed from locally sourced rammed earth, a historic technique rarely used in this region. Its columns embrace impermanence: as the seasons shift, the earth will erode and blend back into the ground, making the passage of time visible. We do not control nature; we are merely a small part of it. This architecture is not meant to last, but to belong.

Founded in 2004 in Mexico City, Tatiana Bilbao ESTUDIO is known for its humanistic approach and commitment to the social, cultural, and environmental impact of architecture to create spaces deeply connected to people and their contexts.

Autumn is here, and so are our Saturday Children's Workshops! 🍂🎨

Every Saturday this fall from 10 AM–12 PM, kids ages 5–11 are invited to explore new and familiar works in our Sculpture & Architecture Park with Art Omi: Education Teaching Artists, then make their own artwork inspired by a weekly theme and/or material.

Each session brings a different project designed to spark curiosity, experimentation, and creative thinking. There is no ongoing commitment to attend weekly, so sign up for as many (or as few!) workshops as you like.

Only two days left to apply to the Art Omi: Artists 2027 Australia Committee Fellowship!

Art Omi invites visual artists living and working in Australia, with at least ten years of demonstrated art practice, to apply for the 2027 Art Omi: Artists residency by Thursday, October 15, 2026 at 11:59 PM EST.

Selected applicants attend the residency at no cost, except travel. The Australia Committee Fellowship offers a travel grant and a $500 stipend.

This fellowship provides an opportunity for one Australia-based artist to join fellow makers from around the world for three-and-a-half weeks of experimentation, collaboration, and exchange on Art Omi's campus in New York's Hudson Valley, two-and-a-half hours north of New York City.

⟳ A year ago today the new commission 𝙀𝙙𝙙𝙞𝙚 𝙍𝙤𝙙𝙤𝙡𝙛𝙤 𝘼𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙤: 𝙄𝙣𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙤 𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙙𝙤 (𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙖 𝙃𝙪𝙚𝙧𝙩𝙖) [𝘞𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘥 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘯𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘦 (𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘏𝘶𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘢)] opened in the Sculpture & Architecture Park, marking the artist’s first outdoor installation on the East Coast.

The work is centered around the Wardian case, a nineteenth-century device that was used to transport living plants from Central and South America to collectors in Europe and the United States. Aparicio examines colonial histories of materials linked to pre-Hispanic cultures in Central America. Tracing the cultural and technological knowledge embedded in historical uses of rubber, amber, and tree bark, his work lingers on materials with medicinal properties that are mined by corporations today, barring access to Indigenous and local communities.

“Para Huerta” in the work’s title at once alludes to gardens (“huerta” translates to “vegetable garden” in Spanish) as well as to Dolores Huerta, a labor activist who co-founded the National Farm Workers Association and was a leader of the Chicano civil rights movement in the United States.

The emblem of the National Farm Workers Association is juxtaposed with the logos of Schweppes, whose tonic water ingredient quinine comes from the bark of the Cinchona tree found in rural Peru, and Chiquita (formerly the United Fruit Company), which transports bananas from Central and South America to European and North American markets. Both corporations continue to profit heavily from industries that were only made possible by a technology of colonial extraction: the Wardian case.

🎃 Calling all goblins, ghosts, and ghouls to partake in our annual Trick or Treat in the Park, taking place on Halloween afternoon, from 1–3 PM!

🪾 Take a stroll alongside Bianca Beck’s sculpture in the Pink Woods as the leaves begin to change and float away from the branches they once called home. Standing over 13 feet tall, Untitled’s colossal height evokes a feeling of expansion, marked vibrantly with an array of colors.

🌏 ART OMI: ARTISTS 2027 AUSTRALIA COMMITTEE FELLOWSHIP DEADLINE EXTENDED!

Art Omi invites visual artists living and working in Australia, with at least ten years of demonstrated art practice, to apply to join the 2027 cohort of the Art Omi: Artists residency. Through a competitive jury process, accepted residents are invited to attend the program at no cost to themselves, except travel expenses. The Australia Committee Fellowship provides further support by offering a travel grant and a $500 stipend.

The Art Omi: Artists residency provides an opportunity to artists from around the world, representing a wide range of styles and practices, to come together for for three-and-a-half weeks of experimentation, collaboration, and sharing of ideas on Art Omi’s bucolic campus located in New York’s Hudson Valley, two-and-a-half hours north of New York City. Concentrated time for creative work is balanced with the stimulation of cultural exchange and critical appraisal. The residency’s Visitors Program enables artists to have conversations with visiting critics, curators, gallerists, and prominent artists. Direct engagement with the New York City art world is unmatched by similar residency programs. The residency culminates in an Open Studios event, open to the public.

Now on view | Nayland Blake “𝘏𝘢𝘶𝘯𝘵”: 𝘉𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘍𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘖𝘯𝘦 𝘝𝘪𝘤𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺𝘢 𝘚𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘳𝘦

Victorya Spectre, the figure referenced in the work’s title, is Blake’s alter ego, spawned in 2013 as part of their performance 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘶𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘢 𝘛𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘏𝘶𝘨𝘴, presented in Times Square as part of the ICP Triennial. An apparition from the old days of Times Square, Victorya is named after the Victory Theater, a former adult theater once on 42nd Street.

Begin your “𝘏𝘢𝘶𝘯𝘵” experience with a walk through the Newmark Gallery in the Benenson Visitors Center. Then, follow the path through the Sculpture & Architecture Park, ringing the bells along the way, until they lead you to the folly in the woods…

“𝘏𝘢𝘶𝘯𝘵”: 𝘉𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘍𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘖𝘯𝘦 𝘝𝘪𝘤𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺𝘢 𝘚𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘳𝘦 is on view in the Newmark Gallery until January 10, 2027. The exhibition in the Sculpture & Architecture Park is on view until the fall of 2030.

☁️ 𝒪𝓁𝒶𝒻 𝐵𝓇𝑒𝓊𝓃𝒾𝓃𝑔: 𝓒𝓵𝓸𝓾𝓭𝓼

If you’ve visited the Sculpture & Architecture Park in the past two weeks, you may have noticed a vacancy in the Silver Meadow. We have said our goodbyes to the iconic 𝓒𝓵𝓸𝓾𝓭𝓼; they have drifted on to New York City, where they will live on the Broadway pedestrian plaza between 39th and 40th street, for the next two years.

The official opening celebration of 𝓒𝓵𝓸𝓾𝓭𝓼 will take place next week on Wednesday, October 7, at 12:30 PM on Broadway between 39th & 40th Streets. Co-produced and curated by Debra Simon Art Consulting and Studio DanReiser, and presented by the Garment District Alliance, the opening will feature free lemonade and live music from Diverse Concert Artists.

While we will miss checking the color of the sky against the aluminum organic shapes created by Olaf Breuning, there are still over 60 works on view, year-round, scattered among the woods and meadows of our expansive grounds to explore!

Debra Simon and Dan Reiser have shared this statement on their new production: “At Art Omi, 𝓒𝓵𝓸𝓾𝓭𝓼 existed within an expansive landscape, where open sky, changing light, and distance became part of the work. In Manhattan, the sculpture takes on a different life. Set within the density and vertical scale of the city, 𝓒𝓵𝓸𝓾𝓭𝓼 enters into direct dialogue with architecture, movement, traffic, and the daily rhythms of the street. The work remains unchanged, but its context transforms it—from an object within a landscape to an active presence within the city.”
