Monday 1/25: Village of Kinderhook Public Zoom Meeting. The School and artist Nick Cave are reaching out to ask our community to stand in solidarity against censorship in the arts, and in support of Nick Cave's installation "Truth Be Told." While turmoil and insanity continues to brew in our nation’s capital, the village of Kinderhook has doubled down on their assertion that Nick Cave’s "Truth Be Told" is a sign and not a work of art. The egregious call to remove this artwork has repercussions that reach far beyond The School to issues of suppression, underscoring the kinds of microaggressions that chip away at the voices and freedoms of artists, arts organizations and beyond.
The Kinderhook Village Zoning Board of Appeals will meet via Zoom on Monday, January 25th at 7:00pm to discuss this issue. A Zoom link for the meeting can be found below. Anyone who would like to speak is welcome to, if you do wish to speak you must sign up with Carol Vandenburgh at Kinderhook Village Hall either by email or phone. Email statements are also welcome and will be read at the meeting. The deadline for signing up to speak is 3:00pm on Monday. Carol's email is [email protected].
On behalf of Jack and Nick, thank you all for your continued support!
