Chatham Village Historical Society Preserving the charm that's Chatham
Est. 1994 to save the Union Depot

Originally founded to save and restore the Boston & Albany train depot, now the Chatham Branch of the Kinderhook Bank, the historical society promotes the railroad and community history of Chatham village. Walking tours, horse-drawn wagon tours, educational programs, and publications support that goal.

We're ready for day 2 of the Columbia County Fair, and did we mention we've got raffles? Starting at just $2 for a ticket, take a chance on a basket of local goodies or this beautiful quilt. Proceeds go towards maintenance of the historic Blinn-Pulver Farmhouse and our collection.

Stop by and see us in the Heritage Barn - we've got photos and memorabilia to explore, and your favorite Chatham souvenirs available for purchase.

WE'RE HERE - and we couldn't be happier!

Be sure to stop by the Heritage Village when you visit the Columbia County Fair this week! We're here, along with lots of other crafters and artisans, with local history displays and lots of gifts and goodies for your consideration. All proceeds from item sales go towards maintenance of the historic Blinn-Pulver Farmhouse property and our collection of historical artifacts and ephemera.

We've got a whole bunch of opportunities for you to connect with Chatham Village Historical Society in the coming month.

FIRST, visit us at the annual Columbia County Fair from Wednesday 9/2 through Monday 9/7. We'll be in the Heritage Village with historical displays to view and lots of goodies for sale including 2026 collectible enamel pins, our new t-shirts, and all your favorite postcards, note cards, and other good stuff.

SECOND, join us at the Chatham Public Library on Saturday, September 19 at 1pm for What The Land Remembers, a special historical presentation on farming in the village of Chatham ranging from pre-colonial to modern times. This event is free to attend.

And FINALLY, we'll be at Ghent Community Day at the Town of Ghent garage on Saturday, September 26 from 11am-3pm.

Chatham Village Historical Society is collecting recollections or family stories from those who grew up living and working on the railroads in the village of Chatham. These stories will help inform one of our upcoming history talks this fall.

We've got an exciting opportunity coming up in just a few weeks - join Chatham Village Historical Society at Chatham Public Library for What The Land Remembers: Farming and Life in the Village of Chatham.

In this talk, we'll discuss early farming practices in what became Chatham Village as well as the economic and social factors that influenced local farming (and vice versa) from the colonial era through modern age.

This event is free to attend. We'll see you Saturday, September 19 at 1pm at the library!
