CONNECTING CHATHAM: Railroads and the Making of a Community was presented today at the Chatham Public Library by the Chatham Village Historical Society.
The presenter, Tim Roberts, a society member, was introduced by President Gail Blass Wolczanski. Mrs. Wolczanski briefly shared her personal experiences as a child growing up in a Chatham railroad family. For more than an hour, Mr. Roberts covered in detail well over 100 years of railroading in Chatham. The production was a collaborative effort and audience members were encouraged to share their railroad memories.
Both Gail and Tim responded to audience questions at its conclusion. The presentation was well received.

The arrival of the railroads transformed Chatham from a rural agricultural village into a thriving regional transportation hub. This lecture examines how the expansion of rail service shaped the Village's economy, population, architecture, and daily life. It will also explore the railroads' long-term impact on Chatham and their enduring place in the community's history.

This lecture is presented in conjunction with Chatham Public Library, Chatham, New York

We're here in Ghent (after all, part of Chatham Village is actually in Ghent) for Ghent Community Day at the Ghent Town Garage today from 11am-3pm.

Stop by to learn about our organization and mission, and shop a variety of Chatham-themed gifts and souvenirs including milk bottles, postcards, hats, shirts, and more. Proceeds from our sales go toward maintaining the Blinn-Pulver Farmhouse and our extensive collection of artifacts and ephemera.

Thank you so much to those who attended today's presentation of What The Land Remembers: Agriculture and Life in the Village of Chatham.

The talk opened with an introduction by CVHS president Gail Wolczanski, who then turned the floor over to Tim Roberts, presenting on agriculture throughout the centuries, how it shaped our village and country, and so much more.

It was a wonderful and informative presentation, and we want to especially thank the Chatham Public Library for hosting and CVHS member Tim for his hard work in researching and presenting this talk.
