Cala Gala is back on Sunday, November 1st! 💀
 
Plaza Paz comes alive for the biggest Día de Mu***os celebration in the Valley, bringing neighbors, families, and creatives to honor the ones we love. Expect glowing ofrendas, art-making, danza azteca, folklórico, banda, and our unforgettable procession.
 
Free and open to all ages. Join us from 5–9 PM at Plaza Paz. You can also prep for the procession with us at 3pm at Sequoia Brewery, with face painters and a car show!
 
You voted Cala Gala the Best Arts and Culture Event and we can’t wait to celebrate with you again. Mark your calendar, start planning your look, and tag who you’re bringing. ¡Somos Arte!

¡Cala Gala regresa el 1o de noviembre! 💀

Nuestra Plaza Paz se llena de vida con motivo del Día de Mu***os, reuniendo a vecinos, familias y artistas para rendir homenaje a nuestros seres queridos. Te esperamos con ofrendas luminosas, talleres artísticos, danza y folclore, dj y tambora, y nuestra inolvidable procesión.

La entrada es gratuita para todos tras registrarse y el festejo es apto para todas las edades. Acompáñanos de las 5 a las 9 de la tarde en la Plaza Paz. ¡Prepárate para la procesión con nosotros a las 3 pm en Sequoia Brewery, con pintacaras y una exposición de coches!

Ustedes eligieron a Cala Gala como el mejor evento artístico y cultural del valle y tenemos muchas ganas de festejarlo con ustedes de nuevo. Ponlo en tu agenda, piensa en qué te pondrás, y etiqueta la persona que te acompañará. ¡Somos Arte!

Bilingual Storytime is hitting the road and headed to Pixley! 📖

Join us Saturday, Oct 17 at 10 AM as we read The Ofrenda That We Built in English and Spanish. Just in time for Día de Mu***os, this joyful, rhyming story follows a family building an ofrenda piece by piece to honor the people they love. After the story, families will create their own art inspired by the book, bring your little ones and your imagination!

Pixley Community Services Center, 1840 E Court Ave. Free and open to everyone. Space is limited to the center’s capacity.

Are you preparing your ofrenda for Dia de Mu***os?  
 
Join us on October 24th at Tioga Sequoia B**r Garden from 1-3 pm for a Pocket Ofrenda Arte Workshop. 
 
Honor your loved ones this Día de Mu***os season by creating your own pocket ofrenda! Whether you choose to honor a loved one or a saint, creating your own ofrenda is a great way to tap into your creativity while commemorating someone special to you! 
 
All materials are included, with a $5 materials fee required at registration. Make sure to bring small pictures for your pocket ofrenda. Registration is now open!

Arte Américas and the Central Valley Chicana and Chicano Writers Collective are excited to share a second iteration of Transcending Borders: The Central Valley Writers’ Premio Literario! This is a writing award designed to amplify the voices of Central Valley youth (ages 18-24) impacted by the current political climate and immigration policies.

We invite you to share your personal story through an original essay, short story, etc., reflecting your experiences navigating issues of belonging, safety, and the immigrant experience in today’s world.

Selected works will be published in an anthology later this year!

Submit your work by November 6th for a chance to be featured for publication and win up to $1000!

Arte Américas y el Colectivo de Escritores Chicanas y Chicanos del Valle Central se enorgullecen al anunciar la segunda edición de – Transcendiendo Fronteras: El Premio Literario de los Escritores del Valle Central! Una oportunidad de premio de escritura diseñada para amplificar las voces de los jóvenes del Valle Central (edades 18-24) impactados por el clima político actual y las políticas de inmigración.

Te invitamos a compartir tu historia personal a través de un ensayo original, relato corto, etc., que refleje tus experiencias navegando por cuestiones de pertenencia, seguridad y la experiencia inmigrante en el mundo actual.

Las obras seleccionadas se publicarán en una antología.

We’re looking for volunteers to join us for our Cala Gala Decoration Workshops and help us create decorations for this year’s Día de los Mu***os celebration.

No experience needed — just come ready to get creative and lend a hand!

Get ready to celebrate Día de Mu***os with a special two-day Calavera Mask Workshop led by artist Itzel Márquez on October 16th and 23rd.  
 
Over the course of two days, Itzel will introduce you to the art of paper maché using simple, everyday materials like newspaper and glue. You’ll learn how to build, sculpt, and paint your very own calavera mask, just in time for Cala Gala! 
 
All materials are included, with a $15 materials fee required at registration. Registration is now open on our website. Space is limited. This workshop will be held in Fresno!

Prepárate para celebrar el Día de Mu***os con un taller especial de dos días sobre máscaras de calavera, dirigida por la artista Itzel Márquez, los días 16 y 23 de octubre.

A lo largo de estos dos días, Itzel te iniciará en el arte del papel maché utilizando materiales sencillos y cotidianos, como papel de periódico y pegamento. ¡Aprenderás a construir, esculpir y pintar tu propia máscara de calavera, justo a tiempo para la Cala Gala!

Our annual exhibition of ofrendas, Cuatro Punto, opens today through November 1st. Visit them at Chaffee Zoo, Consulado de México en Fresno, Mundo Pol, and the Fresno County Public Library's Betty Rodriguez Library. Also, mark your calendar for the biggest Cala Gala festival yet on November 1st at Plaza Paz.

Nuestra expocisión de altares, Cuatro Puntos, comienza hoy hasta el 1o de noviembre. Encuéntralas en el Zoologico Chaffee de Fresno, el Consulado de México, Mundo Pol, y la Bibliotéca Pública Betty Rodríguez. También, no olvides apartar la fecha para nuestro festival, Cala Gala, el 1o de noviembre en Plaza Paz.
