The Railroad Museum at Ardenwood is operated by the Society for the Preservation of Carter Railroad Resources 501(c)
We preserve and interpret 19th Century Railroad Technology used by South Pacific Coast Railroad and Carter Brothers Railroad Builders. The purpose of the organization is to preserve and interpret 19th Century narrow gauge railroading as it was practiced by the South Pacific Coast Railroad, and in our region for the education and enjoyment of the public. In our collection we have over 20 pieces of railroad equipment, some of which built locally by the Carter Brothers Shops in Newark, CA. We restore historic Railroad Equipment and provide historic railroad car patterns and castings to museums across the country! Ask us about our projects or how we can help with your historic needs! Restoration and preservation is only one part of our organization. We also provide the public education in local railroad history, tradition, and the evolution of rail transportation technology.
