The Railroad Museum at Ardenwood is operated by the Society for the Preservation of Carter Railroad Resources 501(c)

We preserve and interpret 19th Century Railroad Technology used by South Pacific Coast Railroad and Carter Brothers Railroad Builders. The purpose of the organization is to preserve and interpret 19th Century narrow gauge railroading as it was practiced by the South Pacific Coast R

ailroad, and in our region for the education and enjoyment of the public. In our collection we have over 20 pieces of railroad equipment, some of which built locally by the Carter Brothers Shops in Newark, CA. We restore historic Railroad Equipment and provide historic railroad car patterns and castings to museums across the country! Ask us about our projects or how we can help with your historic needs! Restoration and preservation is only one part of our organization. We also provide the public education in local railroad history, tradition, and the evolution of rail transportation technology. Make plans today to visit the Railroad Museum at Ardenwood – SPCRR
in Fremont, California.

Calling all Baldwin Locomotive Works and Japanese narrow gauge enthusiasts! We are actively seeking any official mechanical records and documents from the manufacture of our Kiso No. 9 locomotive. Obtaining high quality copies of these documents is critical to our restoration process proceeding.

If you or a loved one have been affected by Baldwin-itis, and possess information on 1929 BLW records (specifically on build 60873), know of any "6 10 1/3" class 0-4-2 drawings, or Imperial Forest Bureau/ Kiso Forest Railway records, we want to hear from you! We are already reaching out to official archives, but you never know who has collected what in the railroad community.

Please share this post with any steam friends and groups to help us reach the corners of the globe where these records may have ended up!

It's the last day to order tickets online before Rail Fair! You can still get tickets day-of, but why wait?

This year's SPCRR exhibition will include a parade of Carter Brothers cars under going restoration, and the Kiso No. 9 will be back out on display - but not looking like this! We've got the whole locomotive stripped down to the bare metal, which is a great opportunity to come and learn how steam trains work, or how we are approaching our refurbishment process.

SEE YOU THIS WEEKEND!!
