Join us for September’s Monthly Member Night as we celebrate one of Fort Collins’ most beloved historical figures: Elizabeth “Auntie” Stone! 💗
 
Known as the “Founding Mother” of Fort Collins, Auntie Stone was born on September 21, 1801  -  which means she’d be turning 225 years old this year! 🥳
 
Come celebrate Auntie’s good humor, generous hospitality, and legendary late-night dance moves that earned her the affectionate nickname “Auntie” from the officers and enlisted men who knew her.

🌟 VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT: PEG BARBOUR! 🌟
 
Meet Peg, one of the friendly faces who helps bring curiosity and discovery to life at FCMoD!
 
Peg joined our volunteer team in October 2025 as a Program Activity Facilitator, and her favorite part of the experience is simple: seeing the kids so excited and involved! 💙
 
A Cleveland, Ohio native, Peg is also a flute player and works with a middle school science team - so it’s no surprise that she loves helping young visitors explore, experiment, and make connections. Her favorite spot in the Museum? The Music Zone! 🎶
 
And when she’s not volunteering, you’ll likely find Peg enjoying time with dogs (especially golden retrievers!)
 
We’re so grateful for the energy, curiosity, and enthusiasm Peg brings to FCMoD. Thank you, Peg, for being part of our volunteer community! 💙

What a great crowd for Wednesday’s sold-out Women’s History presentation in the OtterBox Digital Dome Theater!
 
We learned about Tsianina Redfeather Blackstone, a member of the Muscogee Nation, singer, and musician for whom Red Feather Lakes is named. We also took a virtual walking tour of Fort Collins’ women’s suffrage movement and enjoyed thoughtful (and often funny!) presentations exploring the lives of Glenda Bell, Lady Moon, Agnes Lilley, and Jessie Young.

This Women’s Equality Day, we’re looking back at the remarkable women who shaped Fort Collins. 💜

For the 7th year, FCMoD’s Archive & Collections team is bringing local women’s history to life with historic photographs, audio recordings, stories, and more - all projected across the immersive OtterBox Digital Dome Theater.

Plus, take a virtual “walking” tour with City of Fort Collins Historic Preservation Services and discover local sites connected to the fight for women’s suffrage.

Join us Monday, August 17 from 5–7pm in the newly renovated Spotlight Studio for an evening designed to bring emerging musicians together to hang out, create, learn, and make some noise.
 
This month, we’ll kick things off with a songwriting workshop, followed by a communal jam session where you can put those ideas into action and connect with other local musicians.
 
Whether you’re just getting started or have been playing for years, all skill levels are welcome. Instruments are provided, and best of all - it’s FREE!

In just a few minutes, you can learn two simple steps that could help save a life. Be among the first to try the new kiosk, then come back anytime over the next year to practice and refresh your skills.
