MIXED MEDIA MOSAIC
with Janice Levitt
Nov 14 2026 - 1:00-4:00 pm
THE GALLERY AT FLAT ROCK

Learn to create a beautiful textured mixed media mosaic. Janice will demonstrate how to mix thin set mortar and adhere natural materials such as slate, stone, shells, and pebbles along with stained glass and found objects in a bed of mortar. You will explore design options and how to make expressive lines and use these techniques to create your own mosaic.

All materials are included but students are encouraged to bring any special objects they would like to include in their mosaic, such as shells, rocks, beads, or any meaningful small objects.

Finding your own material in nature
is half the fun!

The fee for this workshop is $110.
Call 828-698-7000 or stop by
The Gallery at Flat Rock to sign up.

Art invites us to pause, observe, and experience the world from a different perspective. Every visit to the gallery offers an opportunity for reflection, inspiration, and meaningful connection.

What emotions do you most often experience when viewing art?

10/05/2026

START LOOKING DIFFERENTLY

A new week doesn’t necessarily require a new you.

Maybe it simply requires a new way of looking.

The same landscape can look different in changing light.
The same painting can reveal something new each time you see it.
The same day can feel different when we approach it with curiosity.

What would happen if you looked at this week differently?

10/02/2026

LEAVE THE WEEK BEHIND.

The emails can wait.

The to-do list can wait.

The noise can wait.

Friday is an invitation to slow down, look around, and make room for something beautiful.

Maybe that’s a mountain view.

Maybe it’s a conversation.

Maybe it’s a work of art that makes you stop.

What helps you leave the week behind?

THE MOUNTAINS BECOME A PAINTING.

Every autumn, Western North Carolina seems to prove that nature is an artist, too.

Greens become gold.

Gold becomes copper.

Copper becomes crimson.

And the Blue Ridge becomes a constantly changing composition.

Which fall color would you put on your palette?
