Last night my husband and I were invited to attend the opening of the new exhibit - Revolutionary New York.
Not only was it a comprehensive look at our state history, but we found Matilda represented as well! She is mentioned as a Suffrage newspaper editor and quoted on the Haudenosaunee Influence panel. It's very exciting to see recognition of her work. If you have the opportunity, visit yourself!

Matilda Monday
From Woman As Inventor:
"No assertion in reference to woman is more common than that she possesses no inventive or mechanical genius, even the United States census failing to enumerate her among the inventors of the country. But, while such statements are carelessly or ignorantly made, tradition, history, and experience alike prove her possession of these faculties in the highest degree. Although woman's scientific education has been grossly neglected, yet some of the most important inventions of the world are due to her.

Women's Work is OPEN NOW.
Artist Rachel Ivy Clarke has created a series of data-driven quilts that discuss exactly what Matilda was talking about. Come and see for yourself!

Exhibit open: Wed - Sat 12-4pm
Artist Reception: Sat, July 11th @ 2pm

Why NARM?
Not only are there wonderful local museums part of this program, including the Matilda Joslyn Gage Center, but as you are travelling this summer you can use the interactive map to find local stops along your journey!

https://cnynews.com/ixp/40/p/narm-museum-benefits/

My family just took a trip to Cape Cod and stopped off at the New Bedford Whaling Museum, another NARM member! We had a great time exploring the whales, ships, and all the local history.
Becoming a member today by joining the Matilda Society.

Looking for things to do with the kids this summer? The NARM program gives families access to hundreds of museums and science centers, including several in Central New York.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at this wonderful event!
