City of Fairhope Administrative Offices and Operations will be closed Monday, September 7, 2026, in observance of Labor Day.

🗑️ There will be no garbage, trash, or recycling pickup on Monday. Services will resume on your next regularly scheduled pickup day.

🛑Meet Ashley & Kyle, the team behind the signs you see all around Fairhope!

As Traffic Technician and Lead Sign Technician, Ashley and Kyle are responsible for designing, making, installing and maintaining traffic signs throughout the city. From street signs and stop signs to the many other signs that help you get where you’re going, their work plays an important role in keeping Fairhope moving safely. 🚦

And there’s a lot more to making a sign than you might think! It takes math, patience and plenty of attention to detail. There are also specific rules for traffic signs, including where they can be placed, when they can be used and even what size they need to be.

Ashley has been with the city for nearly two years and says one of her favorite parts of the job is getting the opportunity to learn new skills. When asked what people might not realize about their work, she put it best: “It’s not just sticking some letters on a sign and calling it a day!”

Kyle enjoys serving the public and helping make Fairhope a great place to live and visit. When it comes to the most challenging part of his job, his answer was simple: “Balancing what people need versus what people want.”

And a fun fact about the people behind the signs? Ashley loves a good conspiracy theory and says, “I'm not saying I believe every one of them…but I’m definitely willing to hear them out!”

Next time you pass a street sign around Fairhope, there’s a good chance Ashley and Kyle had a hand in it!

Here’s the Monday Minute with the Mayor!

🎬 Farewell to Dolly Movie Series: The Fairhope Public Library is hosting a special Farewell to Dolly movie series this Wednesday and Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in the Giddens Conference Room.

🚧 Road Closures & Infrastructure Improvements: A few road closures are planned this week as crews work on infrastructure repair and improvement projects. Please plan accordingly and follow Fairhope Public Utilities for the latest updates.

🎨 First Friday Art Walk: Head downtown this Friday from 6–8 p.m. for First Friday Art Walk! Come enjoy local art, extended shopping hours, and all the fun downtown has to offer!

🏴‍☠️ Go Pirates! Come out and cheer on the Fairhope Pirates at their home game this Friday night at 7 p.m.! 🏈💙

UPDATE 6:35PM: Power has been restored.

UPDATE 6:15PM: Crews reported they are finishing up the last of the repairs now. Thank you for hanging in there with us, Fairhope!

UPDATE 3:45PM: Crews are on the ground making repairs and currently expect power to be restored by approximately 6:15 p.m. Thank you for your patience while our team works to safely complete the repairs as quickly as possible.

UPDATE 1:00PM:Crews have located the damaged area and are working to make repairs. Due to the extent of the damage, additional underground piping will need to be replaced before power can be safely restored.

At this time, we expect power to be restored by early evening. We’ll continue to provide updates as work progresses.

We are aware of a power outage affecting the Quail Creek, Walmart and River Mill areas.

The outage was caused by a contractor working in the area who struck an underground electric line. Our crews responded right away and are working to get power restored as quickly and safely as possible.

We’ll share an update here as soon as we have more information on the timeline for restoration. Thank you for your patience!

⚠️ Traffic & Power Outage Alert

Please avoid the area of White Avenue and South Mobile Street. A fallen tree limb has caused a power outage and is blocking the roadway.

City crews are on site working to clear the road and restore power as quickly and safely as possible.

Please use an alternate route right now and use caution in the area. We appreciate your patience.

UPDATE: (5:18PM) Power has been restored near the White Ave/S. Mobile Street area.

We are aware of a tree down near the intersection of S. Mobile Street and White Avenue that may have caused a temporary loss of power.

Crews are responding now. Please avoid the area while they work to remove the tree and repair the power line.

⚡️Power Outage Notice
UPDATE: (10:05PM) Power has been restored for residential customers. Thank you for your patience, Fairhope!

UPDATE: (8:15PM) Crews are continuing to work safely and as quickly as possible to repair the damage caused when a tractor-trailer struck a transformer. Restoration is taking longer than initially estimated, and we apologize for the extended outage. We know being without power is frustrating, and we appreciate your patience as our crews work to restore service. We’ll continue to provide updates as we have more information.

UPDATE: (5:18PM) Crews remain on site working to restore power on Greeno Road from Autumn Drive to Spring Lake Drive. Power is estimated to be restored by 8PM.

UPDATE: (2:07PM) Crews are working diligently to replace damaged wire and restore power and estimate power service to resume in 5-6 hours.

A tractor trailer hit a transformer on Greeno Road and customers near Autumn Drive may temporarily lose power service. Estimated repair time will be updated once available. Thanks for your patience while our crews work quickly and safely to put out the fire and restore power.

Here’s the Monday Minute with the Mayor!

1. 📋 City Council Meeting: The Fairhope City Council will meet tonight, Monday, August 24, in the Council Chambers. The work session begins at 4 p.m., followed by the regular meeting at 6 p.m.

2. 🚧 Water Line Construction: Water line construction continues along Fairhope Avenue. Please use caution when traveling through the area between County Road 13 and Highway 181.

3. 🏴‍☠️ Go Pirates! Come out and cheer on the Fairhope Pirates at their first home game this Friday night at 7 p.m.! Let’s pack the stands and show our Pirates some hometown support! 💙🏈
