The More You Look Podcast Episode 43: Random Birds

Not long ago, another episode explored the museum’s birds collection. There, Roger Topp spoke with students about working with the collection, and with the Curator Kevin Winker and Collections Manager Jack Withrow about the dimensions of the collection. During that conversation, when asked to pick highlights from the collection, Jack challenged Roger to pick ten birds, by number, at random from the 60,000 specimens on hand, saying that they could tell a story about each and every one. These are their stories.

Artist Marian "Jo" Going's vibrant plein air watercolor landscapes depict Interior Alaska in all seasons and a multitude of colors. This student-curated exhibition was selected from a newly acquired collection of works donated by the artist in 2023.
